New Orleans Pelicans @ Brooklyn Nets

There are two parts to First-Basket betting. The first piece is picking the team to win the first possession. The last time these teams played, Nic Claxton won the tipoff. That means the Brooklyn Nets have the best chance of getting the first shot. The only question is who will score first. 

Claxton has one of the highest First-Basket usage rates. He even took the first shot against the Pelicans when they last played against each other. His high usage rate and the previous game make Claxton one of the better First-Basket bets of the games tonight.

Dallas Mavericks @ San Antonio Spurs

Victor Wembanyama is one of the best players at winning the first possession. He has the size and athleticism to win the tipoff. That means the Spurs will get the first opportunity to shoot the ball. 

The player with the most betting value in this matchup is Jeremy Sochan. He has made the First Basket in two games against the Mavericks this season. They have only played three games. That means the Spurs will use Sochan early and often again against the Dallas Mavericks.

Denver Nuggets @ Minnesota Timberwolves

The Timberwolves have a good chance at winning the tipoff, but I like the Nuggets to score the first bucket. The Timberwolves are coming off a road game in Utah, and the Denver defense is solid. The combination of a road game and the Denver defense will allow the Nuggets to stop the Timberwolves, even if they get the tipoff. 

Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the NBA. The Nuggets will lean on him all night long to have a chance to beat the Timberwolves. That includes getting him involved early on. He was the first to shoot on the Nuggets the last time they played the Timberwolves. Jokic is the play tonight.
