Kevin Durant (+490)
The Nets have turned it around over the last few weeks and surged back into the thick of the Eastern Conference standings. They’re red hot, winning nine of their last ten games, and face a struggling Detroit team that has lost four of the last five games.
Brooklyn has also been excellent at grabbing the first basket with six of the last ten, and Durant has hit three of those.
Nikola Jokic (+290)
The Nuggets are once again in the thick of the Western Conference and currently hold down the third seed. After an unexpected beatdown by the Lakers, they head home to go against the Hornets, who have the fewest wins in the league.
The Nuggets have grabbed the first points in four of their previous five, and with the lack of interior the Hornets have, Jokic will be finding the basket a lot.
Jaylen Brown (+410)
The Celtics took an unexpected home loss against the struggling Magic in their matchup on Friday, and the top seed in the east will have the chance for revenge today. They’ll get back one of their defensive forces as Robert Williams will make his season debut and should play a factor.
Overall, Brown was Boston’s best player at grabbing the first basket last year and one of the better players in the lead.
