NBA First Basket Scorer Odds, Picks & Predictions: Monday (11/6)

Washington Wizards vs. Philadelphia 76ers
The Washington Wizards have played five games this season. However, the team has won the tip zero times and scored the first field goal in just one of the five games. They’ve had the game’s first attempt in two of those games, but they’ve only capitalized once.
Meanwhile, the 76ers have been just as bad at winning the tip. Philadelphia has won the tip one time in five games and hit first field goal just once on their only attempt. That’s crazy to think about, especially considering that the Sixers won the tip in 64% of games last season.
When Philadelphia faced the Wizards last season, the Sixers won the tip in all three games. It was Joel Embiid against Daniel Gafford in all three games. Embiid beat the Wizards each time, and the Sixers scored the first basket in each game.
Therefore, we’ll test our luck with Embiid against Gafford again, and ride with Embiid here.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Brooklyn Nets
The Bucks have played in five games this season. They won the tip in two of the five, but haven’t scored first in any of the games this season.
Milwaukee had its chances; they’ve attempted the first field goal in three of five games, but they haven’t capitalized.
On the other hand, the Nets have found much more success. Brooklyn won the tip in three of their first six games. They have hit the first field goal in 50% of games, as well as the game’s first field goal attempt in 50% of games.
The Bucks have used Brook Lopez for the tip to begin the year, and he’s struggled. Meanwhile, the Nets have rotated many guys for the tip, including Ben Simmons and Dorian Finney-Smith, with Nic Claxton injured.
With Claxton still out due to a sprained ankle, I like Lopez’s chances of earning the tip for the Bucks. On top of that, Lopez has taken the team’s first field goal attempt in three of five games this season.
We’ve got Embiid winning the tip and scoring first in the other game. Now we’ll back Lopez to win the tip and score first in this game.
