    (Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

    Charlotte Hornets at Brooklyn Nets

The Charlotte Hornets have won the tip 50% of the time. However, they’ve only scored the first field goal in 19% of games this season.

They’ve even attempted the first field goal in 44% of games but have needed nearly two field goal attempts to hit their first field goal this season.

While the Nets have also needed two field goal attempts for the first field goal, Brooklyn has secured the first field goal in 47% of games and has attempted the game’s first field goal in 41% of matchups.

The Hornets are without LaMelo Ball for a solid portion of the season due to an ankle injury. So they’ll need other guys to step up. I wouldn’t count on that.

Therefore, I like the Nets to score first in tonight’s game.

Cameron Johnson is sitting at +800 at the fourth-highest probability of scoring first for the Nets. However, he’s attempted 30% of the team’s first field goal attempts. He’s only made 10% of those shots, scoring first once this season. However, the volume is there. He needs to knock down his shots. His success is coming. Take Johnson to score first tonight.

    Bet: Cameron Johnson (+800)

Los Angeles Clippers at Golden State Warriors

The Clippers have only scored the first field goal in 31% of games this season. They’ve needed 2.2 field goal attempts to score their first field goal this season. That’s the second-worst rate in the NBA in front of the Chicago Bulls, who have needed nearly three field goal attempts to score their first bucket this season.

Meanwhile, the Warriors have only needed 1.6 field goal attempts to score their first bucket. Golden State has added a 50% tip win and has made the first field goal in 50% of games this season. Golden State is an average group playing against a Clippers team that typically gets off to slow starts.

Although Steph Curry has the best odds to score first in this game, don’t be fooled. He’s only added the team’s first field goal attempt in 13% of games and has hit the team’s first field goal in not even 20% of games this season.

Klay Thompson leads the team with five first field goals this season. However, Draymond Green has nailed 30% of the team’s first field goals this season, which is the highest rate on the team. He was suspended earlier this year, so he hasn’t played as many games.

Draymond Green at +700 is appealing. He won’t be kicked out of this game that fast!

    Bet: Draymond Green (+700)
