Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Dallas Mavericks

There are two parts to betting on who will score the first basket. The first part is winning the first possession. That advantage goes to the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight. They have two athletic big men who can win the tipoff. The most recenty time these teams played, they did just that. 

Jarrett Allen has a great matchup tonight. The Mavericks lack an interior defender to stop Allen inside. That means he will have plenty of opportunity to score baskets early on. Allen is among the few players with good betting value when scoring the first basket of the night. 

Bet: Jarrett Allen (+350)

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Without Joel Embiid playing for the 76ers, the Boston Celtics have the advantage of scoring first. Kristapas Porzingis has the size and athleticism to win the tipoff. That means the talented scorers on the Celtics will have the opportunity to shoot the first bucket of the night. 

Jayson Tatum is one of my favorites of the night. He is one of the most talented scorers in the NBA, and the Celtics like to get him involved early and often. Tatum is one of the riskier plays, but there is still plenty of betting value. That is why he is one of my favorites of the night. 

Bet: Jayson Tatum (+480)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. San Antonio Spurs

Either of these teams could win the first possession tonight. That makes me want to lean towards the Minnesota Timberwolves to score the first basket of the night. They have the better defensive players. That defense means even if they do not win the first possession, they could get an opportunity to score first. 

Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the better offensive big men in the NBA. He has the size and ability to score from multiple locations on the court. That means the Timberwolves will look to him early on during this matchup to get the pace started. 

Bet: Karl-Anthony Towns +450
