(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Houston Rockets
The Memphis Grizzlies have won the tip 64% of the time this season. Theyâve also added the first field goal in 64% of games and have attempted the first field goal in 64% of games.
The Grizzlies havenât been good this year. But at least theyâve been consistent in scoring the ball first.
On the other hand, theyâll face a Houston Rockets team that has only won the tip in 48% of games. Theyâve hit only 40% of first field goals and have attempted the first field goal in 50% of matchups.
The Grizzlies have had ten different players start this season. However, tonightâs lineup will likely consist of Jaren Jackson Jr., Desmond Bane, Derrick Rose, Santi Aldama, and David Roddy.
Only Jackson Jr. and Bane have played all 22 games. However, Jackson Jr. has added the teamâs first field goal attempt in 41% of games and has nailed the teamâs first field goal in 41% of games. He has nine first field goals this season and has hit four of them in the last ten games.
Weâll roll with Jaren Jackson Jr. tonight.
Bet: Jaren Jackson Jr. (+440)
New Orleans Pelicans vs. Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards have only won the tip in 32% of games this season. Theyâve scored better first, hitting the first field goal in 45% of games. However, theyâve only attempted the first field goal in 41% of games.
Itâs unlikely that the Wizards get the first shot tonight.
Theyâll take on the New Orleans Pelicans, who have won the tip in 54% of games. New Orleans has been less consistent in scoring the basketball. But theyâll most likely have the ball first. That ultimately gives them a higher probability of scoring first.
Brandon Ingram and Jonas Valanciunas have combined to take over 70% of the first shot for the Pelicans. However, C.J. McCollum has nailed the teamâs first field goal in 45% of games despite only having 11 starts.
In 11 starts, McCollum has five first field goals and is sitting at +1000 to score first. Iâll gladly take this line. McCollum is just one first field goal away from tying Jonas Valanciunas for the team lead. But Valanciunas has played in 24 games, which is more than double what McCollum has played in.
Bet: C.J. McCollum (+1000)
