Dallas Mavericks (+116) at Chicago Bulls (-136) | O/U 237 (-110/-110)
The Mavericks (36-38) and the Bulls (33-40) meet at United Center on the west side of Chicago at 8 p.m. ET.
Dallas picked up a 101-92 win on the road against the Orlando Magic last time out at a 7-point underdog on Thursday. Don’t look now, but the banged-up Mavericks have won three of the past four games, while going 4-1 against the spread (ATS). That’s pretty impressive for a team which was gutted by trading Luka Doncic for the oft-injured Anthony Davis. They also lost Kyrie Irving to a shoulder injury, and he is gone for the season.
The Mavs also posted the Under (216) last time out, which was a stunner. The Over was on a nine-game run from March 9-25.
The Bulls are coming off one of the most spectacular finishes in recent memory. The Los Angeles Lakers appeared to be salting away a road win in Chitown, leading 115-110 with 13 seconds remaining in regulation. However, Josh Giddey hit a half-court game-winning 3-pointer at the buzzer to stun the Lakers 119-117. Giddey was impressive all around, going for 25 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists for the triple-double. Kevin Huerter also posted 21 points, while Coby White was good for 26 points.
All of a sudden, the Bulls are on fire, winning nine times in the past 11 games since March 6, while going 10-1 ATS in the impressive span. The Under cashed against the Lakers by a half-point at most shops, but the Over is still 4-1 in the past five outings. The Bulls have played themselves into position for a potential play-in spot, and they’re just a game and a half behind the Magic for eighth place in the East, and two games behind the Atlanta Hawks for seventh.
Let’s roll with the Bulls, who are brimming with confidence thanks to the hot streak, and the late-game heroic against the Lakers. And, based on the team trends for both sides, let’s go high on the total, too.
Picks: Bulls -2.5 (-112) & Over 237 Points (-110)
Los Angeles Lakers (+118) at Memphis Grizzlies (-138) | O/U 237.5 (-110/-110)
The Lakers (44-29) and Grizzlies (44-29) have identical records, but they’ve certainly taken different routes to get here.
As mentioned above, LeBron James and the Lakers were on the receiving end of that stunning loss against Giddey and the Bulls on Thursday in Chitown. Now, they must rebound, regroup and put that decimating loss behind them.
The Lakers are just 1-4 SU/ATS in the past five games, with the Over going 3-1 in the past four outings for Los Angeles.
For the Grizzlies, they were on the receiving end of a 125-104 beating against the Oklahoma City Thunder at Paycom Center last time out. That was without Ja Morant, as he has been hampered by a hamstring injury. Marvin Bagley III is also on the shelf with a concussion.
The Lakers are just 16-20 on the road, which might give bettors pause. However, L.A. is also 4-1 SU in the past five meetings with Memphis, too. The Grizzlies have covered three of the past four in the series, however, with the Over going 6-1 in the past seven battles in the series since Nov. 14, 2023.
While L.A. is just 1-4 ATS in the past five games, Memphis is too banged up and it is only 3-16-1 ATS in the past 20 outings. So, Memphis has no business being favored against anybody. The Over is a strong play, too.
Picks: Lakers +2.5 (-110) & Over 237.5 Points (-110)
