Brooklyn Nets vs. Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics will look for their 50th win of the season against the Brooklyn Nets. They’ll be without Jaylen Brown and almost lost to the Nets on Saturday.
The Celtics out-shot the Nets from the field and even added more foul shots. However, the Nets hit seven more three-pointers and earned 22 fastbreak points to Boston’s two.
That said, at one point, the Celtics had a 21-point lead and were dominating the Nets. Brooklyn just roared back and fell short.
Anyway, the Celtics are still one of the better defenses in the league. Boston has held teams to 111.7 points per 100 possessions and a 53% effective field goal percentage. Ultimately, the Nets have earned 29.3% of offensive rebounds, but Boston has limited teams to 27% of offensive rebounds. With Kristaps Porzingis back in the lineup, this should stand true.
On the other hand, the Nets have been super inconsistent on offense. They’ll be without Cam Thomas for the rest of the year, which should certainly hurt the offense even more down the stretch. The Celtics have shot a 56.4% effective field goal percentage, while the Nets have allowed a 56% effective field goal percentage. There’s also a higher probability the Celtics add a higher rate of offensive rebounds since the Nets have allowed 29.6% per game on the defensive end.
Look for the Celtics to take care of business at home and add a monster win.
Pick: Celtics -13.5 (+100)
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Golden State Warriors
Last night, the Golden State Warriors lost to a Nuggets team without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. After the game, Steve Kerr acknowledged Steph Curry was tired and could sit out tonight’s game.
The Bucks are 3.5-point favorites despite the Warriors being the home team.
Last night, Curry shot just 6-for-21 from the field and scored 20 points. Jimmy Butler was much better from the field and Draymond Green was his usual self. But that wasn’t enough against a short-handed Nuggets team. Without Curry, the Warriors could struggle.
The Warriors are below average offensively this season, shooting a 53.6% effective field goal rate. They also don’t consistently get to the foul line. Beyond that, the Warriors are good at adding offensive rebounds, but against the Bucks, it’ll be hard to sustain success on the offensive glass.
Meanwhile, the Warriors’ defense has still been good. After all, Golden State held the Nuggets to 46.7% from the field last night. Golden State will limit the damage as long as the Warriors are better on the glass tonight. The Bucks have added only 21.9% of offensive rebounds this season, the worst rate in the NBA.
Let’s take the under in this game.
Pick: Under 230.5 Points (-110)
