Tuesday’s Best NBA Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks

The Phoenix Suns will be without Kevin Durant for another week due to an ankle injury. While that hurts the Suns, when Durant was on the court, Phoenix wasn’t any better. The Suns lost three consecutive games to the Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets. All three of those games were double-digit blowout losses, and two were at home.

Meanwhile, the Bucks learned Damian Lillard had deep vein thrombosis in his right calf about a week ago. During that stretch, the Bucks have lost four consecutive games, including a two-point loss on the road against the Suns. The Suns won, thanks to Kevin Durant, who scored a game-high 38 points. Devin Booker filled up the box score and will need to do the same for the Suns tonight, especially with Bradley Beal listed as questionable.

The Suns have still added 116.4 points per 100 possessions. They’ll be able to limit turnovers against the Bucks, who have added only 12.7% of turnovers per game this season. That said, the Bucks are usually terrific on the defensive glass and likely won’t allow many second chances. Still, the Suns will get some quality looks from the field. After all, the Suns have shot a 56.7% effective field goal percentage this season.

On the other hand, the Suns have allowed 118.8 points per 100 possessions on defense. While the Bucks are without Lillard, the expectation is that they will get to the foul line more frequently, keep turnovers down and shoot an even better percentage from the floor at home.

I’ll take the Bucks -6.5.

Pick: Bucks -6.5 (+100)

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Denver Nuggets

The Minnesota Timberwolves have won three consecutive games over the Nuggets this season. Two of the three games weren’t even close. The Timberwolves most recently added a 115-95 victory over the Nuggets back on March 12th. In that game, Nikola Jokic scored 34 points, but Jamal Murray was silent, going 4-for-15 with only 12 points in the loss.

Minnesota matches up well on offense. The Timberwolves have added 116.3 points per 100 possessions and have shot a 55.4% effective field goal percentage. In addition, the Nuggets don’t force many turnovers and have also allowed over 28% of offensive rebounds. The Timberwolves shoot an above-average effective field goal percentage and have also brought down more than 28% of offensive rebounds.

On the other hand, the Timberwolves are much better defensively than the Nuggets. Minnesota has allowed only 111.3 points per 100 possessions, while giving up a 53.3% effective field goal percentage. Denver has added no more than 104 points in two of the three games. The Timberwolves are one of the only defenses capable of stopping the Nuggets.

Consider backing the Timberwolves on the road.

Pick: Timberwolves +3.5 (-105)
