NBA Player Prop Bet Odds, Pick & Predictions: Monday (New Year’s Day)

Happy New Year! The NBA begins 2024 with eight games. The New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves start the slate with a 3:00 p.m. game. That matchup is one of three featuring two teams above .500.

Here are the three best NBA player props for Monday, January 1st.

This Season: 22-32 (-10.81 units)

Monday’s Best NBA Player Prop Bets

Anthony Edwards Under 29.5 points (+100)

This is the type of line that makes it feel like oddsmakers know something we don’t. Edwards is averaging 26.0 points per game this season, and he’s about to face a defense that ranks in the top half of the league in scoring. Yet, his total is listed 3.5 points above his season average, and the over is priced as high as -130.

Edwards has scored over 30 points in three of his last four games. Over his last eight games, he’s averaging 32.1 points per contest. Yet, earlier this season, Edwards scored just 23 points in the Timberwolves 117-100 win. With this game on the road, expect Edwards to just miss this number.

Cade Cunningham Under 7.5 assists (+100)

The Detroit Pistons finally ended their historic losing streak with a win over the Toronto Raptors on Saturday. Cunningham scored 30 points and dished out 12 assists in that game. Cunningham has 21 assists in two games, tied for the most he’s had in a two-game stretch this season.

The Houston Rockets are allowing the second-fewest assists per game this season. While Cunningham could certainly continue his hot play, nothing from the rest of the season indicates he will. He’s assisted on seven or fewer baskets in eight of his last 11 games. In a tough matchup, for this price, it’s hard not to fade the hot hand.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 37.5 points (+110)

Antetokounmpo has posted his two highest-scoring days of the season against the Indiana Pacers. In three games against the second-worst-scoring defense in the league, Antetokounmpo has scored 37, 54, and 64. The Pacers’ defense is still terrible, so there is no reason to expect Antetokounmpo to struggle tonight.

Rather than pay -140 for him to go over 35.5 points, we recommend getting a much better price for over 37.5. Though he failed to hit that number in one game against the Pacers this season, he also failed to put up 20 shots in that contest. In a very high-scoring game, we doubt that will be the case tonight.
