NBA Player Prop Bets Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (10/19)

The NBA is back in full force today. We got a little teaser last night with the two premier games, but tonight we see 24 teams square off against each other. That means there are plenty of opportunities to find player prop bets.

Player prop betting is simple, pick a stat or combination of stats. Rebounds, points, and assists, then bet the player to go over or under that stat.

Let us look at the top player prop bets tonight.

New Orleans Pelicans vs. Brooklyn Nets

Ben Simmons has been one of the most talked about players in the NBA over the last year. He sat out an entire year last year due to various reasons. Eventually, he got traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He hurt his back and could not play the rest of the season. Simmons has recovered and is ready to play this season.

Early in the year, there is plenty of betting value on players coming off an injury. Simmons is a perfect example of that. He’s averaging 15.9 points during his NBA career and was playing at an All-Star caliber until last season. There are plenty of scoring options around him, which means Simmons will have opportunities to drive to the basket. Simmons will need to shake off some rust, but there is plenty of upside to the over 9.5 points early this year.

Ben Simmons Over 9.5 Points (-110)

New York Knicks vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Early in the season, players that have a change of scenery during the offseason can provide plenty of betting value. New teammates and coaching can both elevate and hinder a player’s production. One of these players is Jalen Brunson, who joined the New York Knicks on a 4-year, $104 million contract in the offseason.

The New York Knicks are coming off a down year but acquired Brunson to get back to where they were in the 2020-2021 season. Brunson has the potential to have a breakout season this year. He has increased his scoring output four years in a row. Last year he averaged 16.3 points per game, but until Brunson proves he can consistently score over 17.5 points, the plus value is great for bettors.

Jalen Brunson Under 17.5 Points (+100)

Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns

There was plenty of offseason drama this year with DeAndre Ayton. Ayton signed with the Indiana Pacers, but then the Suns matched the offer to keep him for another year. Then during the preseason, Ayton mentioned he hadn’t talked to his teammates or coach all offseason until the plane ride. Ayton is a talented player and will provide the Suns with plenty of talent down low if the Suns can get past the drama.

Consistency is the key to betting on player props, and no one has been more consistent at rebounding than DeAndre Ayton. He has a career average of 10.5 rebounds per game and has averaged over 10.2 rebounds every season that he has been in the NBA. They are going up against the Mavericks. The Mavericks were ranked 23rd in rebounding last season. Even with the Maverick’s additions of Christian Wood and JaVale McGee, Ayton still has fantastic rebounding value tonight.

DeAndre Ayton Over 9.5 Rebounds (-130)
