NBA Player Props Bet Picks & Predictions: Thursday (1/4)

Happy New Year! I hope everyone’s resolutions included winning more bets because that is exactly what I am here to provide. Despite a bit of a cold streak recently, it has been a remarkably successful season. It’s a slow two-game slate we can still dig deep and find some value within these props. As always, shop around for the best odds.

Thursday’s Best NBA Player Prop Bets

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook | Last Time: 3-2 | Season: 66-41

Jonathan Kuminga Under 13.5 points (-135)

Despite the game playing in Golden State, it’s a relatively low total of 234.5 with Denver favored by 2.5 points. He may be averaging 15 points a game in the past two weeks but that season total sits below 13 and historically, in the single digits. He’s due for regression.

Simply put, Denver is a top-10 defensive unit with a vast pace-down spot coming in as the second slowest team in the NBA. Not only do the Nuggets own a top-10 efficiency ranking but they are even better against opposing frontcourts, limiting opposing power forwards to the fourth lowest scoring average in the league. I’m surprised this number is so high and expected it to be closer to single digits. The under is the play here.

Devin Vassell Over 19.5 points (-120)

It’s always tempting to take opponent over props when facing the Spurs considering San Antonio’s third-ranked pace of play and sub-par defensive ranking, but Milwaukee is in a similar boat. The Bucks will keep up with the Spurs possession for possession with the fourth fastest pace in the league and 21st ranked defense.

For the Spurs, Vassell is my target to go over. He’s been a model of consistency, scoring 17-plus points in five of his last six games and with a point total around 250, there will be a lot of scoring tonight. The Bucks allow over 23 points a game to opposing shooting guards and I expect Vassell to sail over 20 in this one.
