Orlando Magic vs. Utah Jazz

  • Leg 1: Franz Wagner Over 17.5 Points (-135)
  • Leg 2: Markelle Fultz Over 4.5 Assists (-155)
  • Leg 3: Lauri Markkanen under 26.5 points (-210)

The Utah Jazz play at an above-average clip, and are currently 10th in pace so far this year. That should get the Magic moving a little more than they want and increase the scoring and stat potential for this game.

There is no one more trustworthy to score on Orlando right now than Franz Wagner. He currently leads the team in FGAs (14.5) and points per game (18.0) through the early going of the season. Wagner has increased his three-point shooting compared to last season as well. Other players of his ilk have fared well against Utah including Harrison Barnes (33 points), Kawhi Leonard (25), Paul George (36), and Kevin Durant (26). In his two games against them last year, Franz put up 24 and 26 points.

Someone is going to have to dish it to Wagner if he’s going to be scoring, so let’s look to the Magic’s leading passer, Markelle Fultz. He leads the team in passes made and potential assists per game (9.3). Asking for five assists isn’t a crazy ask for a starting point guard. At least one point guard has exceeded this line against the Jazz in four of their five contests.

Lauri Markkanen is the go-to guy for Utah, but he can be inconsistent from game to game and has exceeded this number only two times out of five games. The Magic have done a solid job containing the primary scorers of each team too so it feels right to fade him in this spot. It’s still very early but Orlando is 3rd in defensive net rating. They have allowed the fourth fewest points to Power Forwards as well.

Toronto Raptors vs. Philadelphia 76ers

  • Leg 1: Joel Embiid Over 27.5 Points (-155)
  • Leg 2: Dennis Schroder Over 6.5 Assists (-175)
  • Leg 3: Tobias Harris Over 13.5 Points (-155)

Joel Embiid is an unmovable force. No one can stop him, and the Raptors saw that firsthand a couple of days ago when he put up 34 points against them. Excluding injury-laden games last season, he had 28+ points in 50/60 games averaging 33.1 points per game. He has 21+ FGAs in each game this season. As long as there is no blowout, he should go over this.

Dennis the menace Schroder has taken Fred VanVleet’s facilitating role and run away with it so far. He is averaging 9.2 assists per game and has exceeded this mark in each game this season. That includes a 10-assist game against Philly last Saturday.

In the wake of the James Harden trade, there will be more scoring out of other playing on the squad, such as Tobias Harris. Through three games he has scored 20, 15, and 24 points. In 20 games without Harden last season, he averaged 18.5 points per game and eclipsed this mark in 15/20.
