Cleveland Cavaliers at Atlanta Hawks

These same Hawks smoked the Cavs 136-119 just one month ago, and Cleveland may be without C Jarrett Allen for this one (see here for the complete injury report). Atlanta has hovered within a game of .500 for two months, and we like them to keep this unusual streak alive tonight on their home floor.

Young tallied 43 Points+Assists in their previous meeting and 35 in their first matchup (on 1-7 shooting from 3). Trae has also been excellent on his home court this season, averaging an exemplary 28 Points and 10.2 Assists. The Cavs have been a favorable matchup for opposing Guards in the month of March, and we think it’s fair to expect a big game from Trae tonight.

It’s essentially the same argument as for Trae: Garland tallied a combined 35 Points + Assists in both of the two teams’ previous matchups, and we don’t foresee change tonight. Garland has steamed down a bit in the month of March, but he still comfortably averages this number on the season, and the matchup with the Hawks is as favorable as it gets.

New Orleans Pelicans at Golden State Warriors

New Orleans has been a really strong bet lately. They’re 7-3 SU and ATS over their past 10 games and sixth in the NBA in Net Rating over this same span. The Warriors are a scary team to fade on their home floor, but they’ve shown weakness as recently as Sunday vs. the Timberwolves (a 99-96 loss), and nearly dropped one to a Philly team sans James Harden on Friday. This is too big of a number, given how important the matchup is, and the gap between these two teams is not so large.

The Warriors aren’t an especially stout defensive team, and their Guards are particularly weak in this aspect. The team affords opponents the eighth most three-point attempts in the NBA in the month of March, and if the shot is falling for Murphy, this number should be crossed with ease. Over Murphy’s last eight games, he is attempting an average of 9.625 threes per game and would have crossed this number in each game but last night’s.

This number is far too low for a guy who just tallied 21 boards in Portland and is averaging 16.167 rebounds per game over his last six games played. Further, the Warriors don’t have a lot of size on the interior, making this a great matchup for Valanciunas.
