NBA Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (1/17)

Here are our top same-game parlay bets for Tuesday’s slate of NBA action.

Portland Trail Blazers @ Denver Nuggets

  • Leg 1: Under 238.5 (-110)
  • Leg 2: Damian Lillard Assists u8.5 (-140)

This number was bet up overnight from 233.5 to 238…  but why? Portland has gone Over in three straight, but two of these games came against the same opponent (Dallas), and all three came at home. Situationally, this is no surprise, as the Blazers are a superb 12-6-1 to the Over in front of their home fans. But on the road?– Portland is 16-8 to the Under. The Nuggets have similar splits, boasting a 13-8-1 record to the Under on their home court. One more nugget (pun intended): the last time these two teams met in Denver, the game went Under the 233-point total as the Nuggets won 120-107.

The Blazers have been reliant on Damian Lillard to generate offense, but that has not necessarily translated to high assist totals. So far, Lillard is averaging his fewest assists in the past five years (7.1) and has crossed this number only eight times this season. It’s a little expensive, but a worthwhile addition to this Same-Game Parlay. Logically, if we expect a lower-scoring game, we’d also anticipate fewer opportunities for Lillard to generate assists.

Philadelphia 76ers @ Los Angeles Clippers

  • Leg 1: 76ers Moneyline (-115)
  • Leg 2: Joel Embiid Assists u3.5 (-105)

We would love to endorse the Clippers here, but they’ve given few reasons to do so. The Clippers are 3-7 SU over their last ten and 5-13 SU on the season as an underdog. Furthermore, the team may be without their most crucial player in Paul George, an absence which would move this line greatly in our direction. Past results notwithstanding, Philly is just the better team. On the year, the 76ers rate 7th in Adjusted Net Rating to the Clippers’ 24th, and boast the far superior lineup via 538’s RAPTOR Player Ratings. Let’s avoid the trap of backing the Clippers, and take the 76ers on the moneyline.

This play certainly isn’t comfortable, but it is smart. Embiid has averaged only 2.8 assists over these past two weeks, as G James Harden has fully leaned into his role as a distributor over this same span. Additionally, oddsmakers anticipate a low-scoring game (O/U 223), and the matchup is not ideal as the Clippers rate 4th in Opponents Assists over their past ten games. Expect Harden to play distributor, and for Embiid to be relied upon for his scoring. Finally, it should ease one’s mind to know that Embiid did not cross this number in these two teams’ previous meetings either.

Parlay Odds: +265
