New York Knicks @ Brooklyn Nets

This contest most certainly does not instill the same level of excitement as other games this evening. Having said that, as a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, it's somewhat of a civic duty I break this matchup down.
New York played yesterday against Atlanta. That would usually create an edge over the underdogs. However, in the case of the Nets, the Knicks will seemingly still have the advantage due to Brooklyn’s lack of cohesion.
The Knicks barely go into their bench to spell players who may have played 40+ minutes. As for the Nets, if one thing is for certain, it's that no starting lineup is definite on any given night. Brooklyn tested the Lakers last week in a battle that went down to the last few seconds. They also fell to the Clippers by 60 points in the previous game.
Things are tough in Brooklyn at the moment. Although this may be a rivalry due to logistics, these two teams are vastly separated regarding direction and efficiency.
Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 2.1 three-pointers in January. While the volume is a bit low at only 4.8 attempts per game this month, the New York center has not taken fewer than five shots from beyond the perimeter in three straight games.
Towns has knocked down at least two baskets from three-point range in five out of eight games this month. Brooklyn is allowing almost 14 three-pointers to the opposition on the season.
This selection is purely based on time on the floor and the lack of efficiency from Brooklyn’s offense. Jalen Brunson should see enough opportunities to snag at least three boards.
The New York guard is averaging three rebounds per game on the season and has recorded a combined eight boards in the previous two games played against Brooklyn this season.
Parlay Odds: +265

Washington Wizards @ Los Angeles Lakers

Nothing screams bitter rivalry quite like the Wizards vs. Lakers. On a serious note, this appears to be a smash spot for one player in particular - Austin Reaves. The Wizards are allowing the most points per game, with the fifth-highest field-goal percentage. Washington owns the worst defensive rating in the league and concedes almost 21 points per game off turnovers alone.
Reaves is averaging 2.6 three-pointers on the season and has knocked down at least two three-pointers in every game in January. The Lakers guard is attempting 6.9 shots from beyond the arc this month, with a 40% success rate. Washington surrenders over 14 shots from deep per game.
Reaves has not only been solid shooting the deep ball on the season, but the scoring in general has improved. The Los Angeles guard is averaging a career-high 18.4 points per game this season. The rise in points is a 2.5 increase from the 2023-24 campaign.
Reaves has scored 15+ points in eight of his last 11 games and is averaging 18.6 points per game in January. Over the last five games, all starting shooting guards eclipsed 15 points against the Wizards.
The last piece of the parlay coincides with the previous as the points are heavily baked into the 26.5 points + assists total. Oddsmakers appear to expect Reaves to score at least 20 points given the 2.6 increase in season averages.
Reaves is averaging seven assists in January, including three games with 10+ dimes. Washington allows 28.4 assists per game to the opposition, while the Lakers guard accounts for over 25% of the team's passes that lead to points.
Parlay Odds: +102
