(Odds Courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Houston Rockets @ Washington Wizards
- Leg 1: Houston Rockets First Half/Full-Time Winner (-260)
- Leg 2: Jalen Green Under 22.5 Points (-120)
- Leg 3: Alperen Sengun Under 39.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-120)
The Washington Wizards are currently riddled with injuries heading into a contest against one of the top young teams in the NBA - the Houston Rockets. The Rockets rank third in defensive rating over the last five games and third in points allowed with only 106.7 per game on the season.
Washington has conceded the most points per game to the opposition, giving up over 122, while teams connect on 47.2% of their field-goal attempts from the field. While the Rockets own the worst offensive efficiency rating, the gracious Wizards defense should offset that for this contest.
The 11.5-point spread is a tad high, so we will play this portion of the parlay on the safe side, taking Houston to be ahead at halftime and at the end of the game.
Onto the riskier aspects of the parlay. Jalen Green is currently questionable with a right knee contusion. However, due to the lack of severity regarding the injury, he should be on the floor tonight.
With such a large point spread, it's highly possible Green does not even see his full allotment of playing time this evening. The fact he is dealing with a minor injury only adds to the possibility of a decrease in minutes.
The Houston guard should have no problem scoring against the Wizards this evening. We simply feel the volume may not be as necessary considering the opponent.
The same logic follows the points + rebounds + assists combination prop for Alperen Sengun. The 39.5 threshold is predicated on almost 32 minutes of playing time. On the season, Sengun is only averaging 34.2 points + rebounds + assists.
The lines are expecting him to repeat the absolute thrashing the Houston center served-up the last time he faced Washington. Sengun did not even need any assists in that contest, the 27 points and 17 boards were more than enough.
This will no doubt be the sweatiest leg of our parlay. However, we feel Sengun will not exceed his combo prop line.
Parlay Odds: +369
Atlanta Hawks @ Utah Jazz
- Leg 1: Utah Jazz +6.5 (-112)
- Leg 2: Dyson Daniels 4+ Assists (-110)
- Leg 3: Trae Young Under 12.5 Assists (-142)
Normally, we would steer clear of a contest where one team is so devoid of health that the props are not even posted currently. Having said that, the Utah Jazz may be able to sneak out a cover against an Atlanta squad struggling through their current road trip.
The Hawks have lost three straight games during their six-game West Coast trip. With only two games left, there's a chance the Hawks may overlook a Jazz team on a two-game win streak.
Atlanta covers the spread at a 44% clip on the season. When playing as the favorite, the Hawks have covered in four of their last 11 games. When playing on the road as a favorite, Atlanta has covered the spread on one occasion in their last four contests.
Dyson Daniels gets a solid matchup against a Utah team that allows assists to shooting guards. Since December 1st, the Jazz have allowed at least four assists to shooting guards in all but two contests.
Daniels has recorded four assists or more in six of his last eight games, including five of the last six contests. The Jazz have allowed an average of 10.6 assists to opposing shooting guards over the last three games.
We close out the parlay with an astronomical number that we simply cannot get behind, outcome be damned. Trae Young has cleared 12.5 assists in four of his last 11 games and only once in the last four contests.
Atlanta is only averaging 108 points per game over their last five games - a stark contrast from their season average of 116.6 points per game. This type of regression directly impacts Young's assist-totals. If the team is scoring less, the number of dimes will drop as well.
The Hawks are only making 43% of their field-goal attempts to start the New Year and are shooting just 30% from beyond the arc. With such a high suggested total and a team that appears to be in a scoring slump, we will take the lower end of 12.5 assists for Trae Young this evening.
Parlay Odds: +300
Bonus Prop: Defensive props arenât listed yet, but once they are, add Dyson Daniels 1+ steals to this parlay.
Enjoy the games tonight and good luck with your parlays.
