Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers
- Leg 1: Under 58.5 Fourth Quarter Total Points (-120)
- Leg 2: LeBron James Over 9.5 Assists (-110)
- Leg 3: Anthony Davis Over 28.5 Points (-125)
Utah rolls into Los Angeles to take on a revitalized Lakers squad that has performed quite well over the last stretch of games, winning five straight after losing in back-to-back contests earlier in the month.
As previously stated, the point spread (Lakers -11) suggests Los Angeles will have little trouble dispensing of the Jazz this evening. The question is will the Lakers truly need to play their starters in the fourth quarter if this game doesnât stay close?
The Lakers are currently averaging just over 30 points in the fourth quarter in 13 games - which by itself would be completely scary for this selection. Our lack of confidence resides in the Jazz, though. On the season, Utah is only averaging 27.7 points in the last quarter of games.
The combined total between the average in the fourth quarter puts us exactly at the 58.5 projected amount of points. These numbers seem more correlated to a close game where the last quarter is a battle. If the Lakers are going to meet the expectations of the sportsbooks tonight, it's more likely for the points to fall short of the 58.5 combined fourth-quarter total.
LeBron James has truly been smashing in the assists department to start the 2024-25 campaign. This has especially been the case over the last eight games. Over this span, the crafty veteran is averaging 10.8 assists and has only failed to clear the desired 9.5 total in two of these contests.
The 9.2 assists James is averaging on the season is the second-most in his career. There is a concentrated effort to create opportunities for others to begin this year.
Los Angeles is projected to score over 120+ points against a Utah team that will most likely not have the personnel to enforce much rim protection. If the points are easy to come by for Los Angeles, we expect James to play a complimentary role in those baskets.
Utah is allowing 27.6 assists to the opposition on a per-game basis. The Lakers are dishing out 27.2 assists each contest. James is only behind Anthony Davis in regards to usage with 27.9% on the season. It's certainly not a bad thing when the only player with more usage is averaging 31.1 points per game. A whopping 61.9% of the baskets being scored are off of assisted two-point field goals.
We close out this parlay with the player we just mentioned - Anthony Davis. The 2024-25 season has started with all the makings of an MVP campaign for the veteran in his 13th NBA season.
The Lakers have chosen to run their offense through Davis this season, and the results have been successful to date. Los Angeles is currently in the midst of a five-game win streak and is considered a major favorite to attain their sixth victory in as many games this evening.
A quick glance at Utahâs frontcourt and it's evident that stopping Davis from scoring at will is going to be extremely problematic. Walker Kessler will not be available once again due to bursitis in his right hip. This leaves Utah with only 6-foot-9 power forward John Collins and rookie Kyle Filipowski as the main defense to stop Davis.
That simply does not bold well for the Jazz, so we are taking Davis to cook Utah tonight at home. Davis has exceeded 28.5 points in five of his past seven games and is averaging 31.4 points over that span.
Good luck with your parlays.
