Los Angeles Clippers @ San Antonio Spurs
- Leg 1: San Antonio Spurs Moneyline (-172)
- Leg 2: Victor Wembanyama Over 2.5 Three-Pointers Made (-128)
- Leg 3: Victor Wembanyama 3+ Blocks (-260)
After a win last night in New Orleans, Los Angeles travels to San Antonio in what is suggested to be a close, low-scoring affair. The Spurs are 11-7 when playing at home - where they are connecting on an additional 3% of field-goal attempts.
The Clippers are a smidgen over .500 with eight wins on the road and seven losses. However, Los Angeles is only scoring 102 points in six contests when playing on a back-to-back. Although the Clippers are ranked second in defensive rating over the last 10 games, that volume of scoring is simply not going to cut the mustard against the Spurs this evening.
San Antonio is averaging 112.8 points per game over their last 11 contests, scoring at least 112 points in seven of those games. On the defensive side of the ball, The Spurs are only allowing 104.2 points over their last five games, as the opposition is only connecting on 41.8% of attempted field goals.
The prop for Victor Wembanyama's three-pointers made has been one we have pounced on for a few games now. Tonight will be no different. The second-year superstar is a much more efficient shooter when in the embrace of a home crowd, connecting on an extra 5.5% of threes when playing at Frost Bank Center.
Wembanyama has knocked down at least three baskets from beyond the arc in six straight contests. The San Antonio center is shooting 37.4% on 9.9 attempts per game over that span and has made at least six three-pointers in three of those contests.
The Clippers are allowing only 12.8 three-pointers made per game on the season. However, that number has increased to 13.8 over the last 11 matchups in December.
As for the blocks, Wembanyama has swatted away three or more attempts in six of his last seven games. When at home, he is averaging 4.1 blocks on the season. The San Antonio center has recorded at least three blocks in every contest after failing to do so in the previous game. In his last game against Minnesota, he only blocked two shot attempts.
Parlay Odds: +261
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Oklahoma City
- Leg 1: Oklahoma City Thunder First-Half/Full-Time Winner (-160)
- Leg 2: Jalen Williams 15+ Points (-500)
- Leg 3: Anthony Edwards 4+ Rebounds (-420)
We favor this first-half/full-time selection over the Moneyline due to the tremendous reprieve of the odds. There's no need to lose all that juice, especially when the point spread is touching over seven points currently. Oklahoma holds the second-best record in the league as of today, and Minnesota is still trying to build chemistry after a major alteration to their starting lineup right before the start of the season.
Oklahoma City has not lost in its previous five contests and owns the highest defensive rating over that span, allowing only 103.2 points on 40.9% shooting from the field and 32.8% from beyond the arc per game. The Timberwolves are allowing over 112 points per game over its last five games, while opponents connect on 46.5% of field-goal attempts and 38% from deep.
This is a tough spot on the road for Minnesota. We feel the Thunder are able to sustain the lead at halftime, as well as for the entire contest.
Oklahoma City can attribute the growth of Jalen Williams to the success the team has endured over its first 31 games. The Thunder forward is experiencing career-highs in both points per game (21.2) and from beyond the arc where he is making 1.9 three-pointers each contest.
Williams has scored 15+ points in 12 of his last 14 games and is averaging 19.1 attempts over that span. In the last three matchups against the Timberwolves, the Oklahoma City forward has scored at least 20 points.
This contest should stay within blowout status. However, if it does not, we expect Williams to play a pivotal role in the Thunder being so far ahead.
We close out the parlay (and the year) with a selection that doesn't take too much convincing or explanation. Oklahoma City is allowing more than eight rebounds per game to the shooting guard position in December. Anthony Edwards is averaging 5.6 boards on the season.
The Minnesota guard has successfully recorded four rebounds or more in every game this month. Considering the Thunder have been so gracious towards others at the position recently, there is a good chance Edwards will once again pull down at least four boards tonight.
Parlay Odds: +152
Have a safe and Happy New Year! Enjoy the games tonight and good luck with your parlays.
