Memphis Grizzlies vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Jaylen Wells scored only four points against the Rockets last time out, but he’s scored at least nine points in 66% of his games this season. He even had a 30-point outing against the Sacramento Kings to start January. Although it was a bad matchup against Houston, Wells should rebound tonight.

Minnesota has allowed 21.52 points per game to small forwards this season. They also rank 25th in field goal percentage against small forwards. Wells should get better volume and ultimately good looks tonight.

On the other hand, Jaren Jackson Jr. is on a massive run. He’s scored at least 21 points in five straight games. He’s also hit this line in eight of his last 10 games. Jackson will battle a Minnesota defense ranked 13th in the NBA in points allowed to centers per game. Jackson has averaged more than 20 field goal attempts per game over the last 10 games and has shot nearly 46% from the field in that stretch.

If Jackson and Wells are going to score, count on Ja Morant to assist. Morant has earned at least seven assists in two of his last three games. Meanwhile, Minnesota only ranks 18th in assists allowed to point guards this season. The Timberwolves have given up nearly nine assists to point guards per game. I like Morant’s chances of getting at least seven.

Miami Heat vs. Portland Trail Blazers

This is a sell-high spot for Jaime Jaquez Jr., who has scored at least 16 points in three straight games. However, he’s facing a Portland defense ranked 11th in points allowed to small forwards per game this season. Portland has allowed small forwards to shoot just 40.36% from the field and has given up a 24.64% three-point rate to small forwards. I’ll fade Jaquez here.

Next, consider Tyler Herro to go under 5.5 assists. He’s failed to record six assists in three straight and in five of his last six games. Tonight, he’ll battle a Portland team ranked 11th in assists allowed per game. Herro hasn’t even been getting a high rate of potential assists lately.

Finally, I’m looking at a buy-low spot for Toumani Camara. Camara has earned at least six rebounds in six of his last 10 games. He’s struggled to get a high rate of rebounds lately, but he’ll take on a Miami squad ranked just 25th in rebounding against power forwards. Camara should have at least 10 potential rebound chances, if not more.
