Boston Celtics vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Jaylen Brown has dished out at least four assists in just two of his last eight games. In addition, he’s failed to hit at least five assists in all seven meetings against Minnesota dating back to 2021. He’s averaged just three assists per game against the Timberwolves since 2021.

Additionally, the Timberwolves rank first in the NBA in assists allowed to small forwards. They’ve given up just 2.95 assists per game to small forwards each game.

Minnesota is also very good at limiting assists to shooting guards. The Timberwolves rank second in the NBA in assists allowed to shooting guards, giving up just 4.14 assists per game. Meanwhile, shooting guard Derrick White has recorded fewer than five assists in four of his last five games. He’s also added at least five assists in only 44% of games this year.

Finally, Anthony Edwards has earned at least six rebounds in five of his last six games. He’ll battle a Celtics team that ranks 23rd in rebounds allowed to shooting guards. Expect Edwards to be solid on the glass, especially when the Celtics miss shots.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Golden State Warriors

Joel Embiid will be a game-time decision every game this season. But it’s looking more like he’ll play in this one. Ultimately, Embiid has hit at least four assists in 55% of games this season. He’s also added at least four assists in 14 of his last 20 matchups dating back to last year.

He’ll battle a Warriors defense that ranks 27th in assists allowed to centers this season. Embiid could have 10+ potential assists in tonight’s game.

On the other hand, Trayce Jackson-Davis has destroyed the glass over the last few games. He’s added at least nine rebounds in four of his previous five. But this is the game to fade him. Jackson-Davis has still added nine rebounds in just 29% of games this season and has struggled to rebound against the 76ers in both previous meetings against them. Furthermore, the 76ers rank 12th in rebounds allowed to centers this season, which is still slightly above average.

Lastly, consider Paul George to get at least three threes. He nailed four threes against the Kings to start the new year and will now face a Warriors defense ranked 28th in threes made to small forwards and 24th in three-point field goal percentage against small forwards. George will get some quality looks and keep his momentum going in 2025.
