Dallas Mavericks vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Kyrie Irving has scored at least 25 points in three consecutive games. He’s taken off with Luka Doncic on the sidelines. However, tonight, he’ll face a Thunder defense ranked fourth in the NBA in points allowed to point guards this season. The Thunder have limited point guards to just 7.69 field goals made and only 18.23 field goal attempts per game. Those numbers rank in the top three in the NBA.

Irving only took 21 shots last night against the Timberwolves and still managed 36 points. That’s unlikely to continue, especially against the Thunder.

Ultimately, the Thunder have the best defense in the NBA. They’ve allowed just 103.86 points per game, which ranks first in the league.

P.J. Washington is coming off a 30-point performance against the Timberwolves himself. However, he’s nailed at least 15 points in just 38% of games this season. The Thunder have also held power forwards to 19.35 points per game, which ranks third in the NBA. Washington will take a back seat tonight.

Daniel Gafford is another power forward who could struggle to score a ton. He’s scored 15+ points in only 31% of games this season. Again, the Thunder defends power forwards very well. Gafford has added just 12.4 points per game over his last 10 games and has hit this line in just two of his last 10 games. Take his points under.

Sacramento Kings vs. Denver Nuggets

Michael Porter Jr. finally scored more than 15 points after a streak of five games with 15 or fewer. He finished with 19 against the 76ers despite playing only 24.6 minutes in that game. What stood out the most was his usage, which reached 23.3%. He took 13 shots in that game and nailed 3-of-6 from downtown. Tonight, he’ll face a Kings defense ranked 28th in three-pointers allowed to small forwards. Look for Porter to drain a bunch of threes tonight.

On the other hand, DeMar DeRozan has earned at least 24 points in four straight games. He’s also hit 24 points in six of his last seven games. He’ll battle a Denver defense ranked dead last in points allowed to shooting guards, allowing 24.57 points per game. The Nuggets also rank dead last in field goals made and attempted and have allowed plenty of second-chance points. DeRozan’s streak of 24+ points should live on.

Hopefully, Domantas Sabonis will dish DeRozan the rock. Sabonis has added at least six assists in seven of his last 10 games, though he’s missed this line in two straight games. Either way, he’s taking on a Denver defense ranked 29th in assists allowed to centers this season. Sabonis has averaged 6.2 assists per game and will take on a Nuggets team that gives up a lot of assists to centers. I’ll take my chances.
