Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors rank in the bottom ten in points allowed to bigs this season.

Jaden McDaniels, one of the many power forwards on the Timberwolves, has recorded at least 11 points in two straight games. He’s also hit this number in three of the last four matchups. Toronto has allowed 23.67 points to power forwards this season and has allowed 3.26 offensive rebounds with 5.6 free throws per game. McDaniels should see ample opportunity to score at least 11 points.

The same goes for Naz Reid and Rudy Gobert. The Raptors rank 22nd in points allowed to centers and have given up 5.29 second-chance points with 5.04 offensive rebounds. Centers are getting to the foul line consistently, and the Raptors have allowed a double-double to centers more than once every two games.

Don’t be surprised when Goebrt and Reid contribute a solid amount of points in tonight’s game.

Orlando Magic vs. Los Angeles Lakers

Tristan da Silva added ten points in last night’s game against the Clippers. It was the first time he scored more than six points since a game against Washington 11 days ago.

He’ll have an even better matchup tonight, going up against a Lakers defense that has allowed 23.91 points to small forwards this season. The Lakers rank 27th in that category, allowing a 55.31% field goal percentage to small forwards this season.

On the other hand, another small forward, Franz Wagner, will take advantage of these numbers. Wagner has scored 29+ points in four of his last five games. He struggled against the Los Angeles Clippers last night but should get back on track. After all, the Lakers have allowed 9.17 field goal attempts per game from small forwards, which ranks 29th in the NBA.

Finally, it’s obviously been a weird season for D’Angelo Russell. But tonight’s matchup is getting me excited. The Magic have allowed 25.27 points to point guards this season. They’ve also watched point guards hit 48.68% from the field and take 8.67 field goal attempts.

This could be a fun bounce-back game for Russell. Don’t expect him to explode for 20+. But asking for 11 points against the Magic is certainly doable.
