NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (1/1/25)

Regular season record: 93-39

Karl-Anthony Towns (F/C – NYK): OVER 0.5 double doubles

KAT has been dominant this season, becoming a favorite of this column because of it. He is a strong points alt line play most nights and has become one of only three players in the NBA we can confidently count on for a double double almost every night. Towns is second in the league with 13.5 rebounds per game and has registered a double double in 27 of his 31 games this season. Towns has recorded a double double in 20 of his last 22 games, but the two he missed the mark in have come since Christmas. Towns has had success against the Jazz this season on the boards, hauling in 16 rebounds against them earlier this season while only scoring 16 points, seemingly playing down to his competition. This made the points vs double double debate an easy one gif tonight. Tap the More on Towns double double for Wednesday night at Sleeper Picks.

D'Angelo Russell (G – BKN): OVER 16.5 points

D'Angelo gets a new lease on his basketball life with the trade back to the Brooklyn Nets. We don't yet know how many minutes Russell will play when the Nets are healthy, but with Cam Thomas injured and Dennis Schroder in Golden State, Russell should get all the minutes and shot volume that he can handle. D'Angelo was floundering in Los Angeles, bouncing in and out of meaningful roles, and will now get a restart for an organization he represented as an all-star. Russell is a safer play at his 14.5 alt line, but with the Raptors as opponents with one of the most uninspiring backcourts in the league, D'Angelo should feast. Dap the More on D'Angelo for Wednesday night basketball.

Cade Cunningham (G – DET): OVER 19.5 points (alt line)

Cade continues to roll for the Pistons, scoring 20 or more points in all but four of his games this season. He is averaging 24 points per game and has scored 20 or more in 12 of his last 14 games. He has an excellent opportunity to hit 20 or more again tonight against a Phoenix Suns team he dropped 28 on just over a week ago. Clap the More on Cade for Wednesday night's slate.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
