NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (1/24/24)

Season record: 120-70

Devin Booker (G/F – PHX): OVER 6.5 assists

My initial lean here was on the Less, as Booker has recorded more than five assists just once in his past three games and in just three of his last seven. However, Booker dropped 10 assists on the Mavericks earlier this season and should be fully up for a marquee matchup against Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Booker has recorded six or more assists in six of his last 10 games and 14 of his last 23. Dallas surrenders the fifth most assists per game to the shooting guard position at 5.48 per contest. Bump the More on Booker for Wednesday night.

Jalen Duren (C – DET): OVER 14.5 points

Duren struggled in back-to-back games against the Milwaukee Bucks but will have an excellent chance to right the ship tonight against the Charlotte Hornets. The Hornets allow the second most points per game to the center position at 27.23 per contest. Duren dropped 14 on the Hornets early in the season and should have even more success this time around against a Hornets team that is already divesting off veterans. Duren has seen his role increase since the last time the Hornets saw him (the Pistons’ second game of the season) and should have their hands full with a young big who is clearly coming into his own.

Anthony Edwards (G – MIN): OVER 5.5 assists

I debated between the assist and point totals here but ultimately went with this assist line because Ant has a propensity to rack up the dimes when he is more aggressive from the floor. The point total was an easy target due to tonight’s opponent being Washington, but the assist line is where the value lies. 28 points is an excellent game, 29+ is elite, which Ant certainly is, but he has been passive at times over his last few outings. He has scored 29 or more points just once in his last six games. Edwards is averaging 5.2 assists per game on the season and is set to take on a Washington Wizards team gifting a league-high 5.71 assists per game to the shooting guard position. Rap the More on Edwards for Wednesday night.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
