NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (10/25/23)

Scottie Barnes (F – TOR): OVER 4.5 assists

Scottie Barnes is set to take on more of a point forward role for the Toronto Raptors this season, a departure from last season when Pascal Siakam was on the ball a lot. Barnes averaged 4.8 assists last season and should easily hit 5.5 or more in the Raptors’ new system, which will feature a lot more ball movement and less contract-related selfish play. He hit five or more assists in 39 of 77 games last season, and that was with Fred Van Vleet and Pascal Siakam being the primary ball handlers. Barnes is going to average well over 4.5 assists this season and will be an easy tap at this number until further notice. Hit the More on Barnes.

Alperen Sengun (C – HOU): OVER 14.5 points

Sengun is slated to be a full-time starter this season and will have the added benefit of playing with a veteran point guard in Fred Van Vleet, who will be keen on using the big man in pick-and-roll situations. There are a lot of mouths to feed on the Rockets’ offense, but Sengun should have his night volume relatively locked in and projects to bump his average to at least 16 points per game, thanks to the added minutes and shots. Sengun averaged 16 points per game in the 56 games in which he played more than 28 minutes. A popular breakout candidate, Sengun should thrive in a more mature Rockets offense spearheaded by FVV. Tap the More on Sengun.

Scoot Henderson (G – POR): OVER 12.5 points

Scoot Henderson should have a solid role out of the gate for the Blazers. Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant will be volume shooters, but the Blazers are likely to prioritize the development of Scoot and second year man Shaedon Sharpe. Scoot, who will receive starter’s minutes, will be on-ball enough to get his share of shots up, and with an attacking mindset, he should see a couple of trips to the charity stripe. Outside of a truly poor shooting night, Scoot should easily hit at least 13 points in his NBA debut. Slap the More on Scoot.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
