NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (10/27/23)

Season record: 5-5

OG Anunoby (G/F – TOR): OVER 1.5 steals + blocks

OG went off for a career-high tying seven StOcks (steals + blocks) in the opener and is an excellent bet to hit at least two against the Chicago Bulls. Set at 1.5 steals but also 1.5 StOcks, OG is screaming value. The emerging star was an All-NBA first team selection last season and recorded at least two StOcks in an absurd 51 of his 67 games played. As mentioned on Wednesday, OG recorded three streaks of at least 11 consecutive games with at least two StOcks and one streak that saw him go 24 straight. Ride with the Raptor until the wheels fall off.

Jimmy Butler (G/F – MIA): OVER 5.5 rebounds

Jimmy Buckets had a poor shooting night from the floor in the opener but still posted a solid line of 18 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, and two steals. The Heat should have had a much easier time dispatching the Detroit Pistons, but your star player going .333 from the floor on 18 shots can put you in a bind. Looking ahead to tonight, the Heat face off against their rivals in the Boston Celtics. While attacking Jimmy’s points line leaves some risk on both sides, the rebound total has some inherent value. Butler averaged 5.9 rebounds per game last season while collecting six or more in 31 of his 64 games. The percentage under 50 percent would usually swing the value to the Less, but head-to-head data drives us to another conclusion. Butler hauled in six plus rebounds in seven of his nine games played against the Celtics last season (including playoffs). He averaged 11 against them in two regular season games and averaged 7.5 against them during seven playoff games. Kristaps Prozingis will help the Celtics on the boards, but Butler still has a high probability of grabbing at least six himself. Tap the More on Butler where needed.

Victor Wembanyama (C/F – SAS): OVER 17.5 points

Wemby managed just 15 points in his NBA debut but had his minutes cut short by constant foul trouble. He looked nervous like he did in his first preseason game, but still had a solid line with 15 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, two blocks with three shots from beyond the arc. He took only nine shots in the truncated start and managed just one trip to the line, which he failed to convert. If he can spread his fouls out a little more, he can jump closer to the 28-33 minutes the Spurs probably planned to play him in the opener. He has a much softer opponent tonight and should be able to hit 18 points without much effort if he can stay on the floor. Hit the More on Wemby for Friday night.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
