NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (11/8)

Welcome to Sleeper Picks! Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Similar to fantasy sports, the goal in Sleeper Picks is to draft a team of players based on who you think will perform better than the field. But with Sleeper Picks, you pick teams of 2-8 players from multiple teams based on your preferences and predict whether those players will score more or less than a predetermined amount. There are a number of ways to play and a variety of strategies to employ, and we’ll guide you through the process each week.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (11/8/23)

Season record: 23-7

Steph Curry (G – GSW): OVER 0.5 points

Sleeper Picks has put Steph Curry points on sale for Wednesday night, setting it at just 0.5 points. The best part is that the multiplier remains static at 1.77, regardless of how much action Sleeper gets. There is not much to be said about promotional totals like this, as they are created so we get a free win on a portion of our ticket for the night. I chose to discuss the Scottie Barnes and Wemby totals today, but there are other lines you can pair with the Steph promotion that have a higher probability of success. Deni Avdija points, Cam Thomas points, and, of course, my favorite, Nikola Jokic double double. The Jokic total has been expiring, so act fast to determine whether it is still on the board when you are ready to prepare your ticket for the night. Tap More on the Steph Curry freebie for Wednesday night.

Scottie Barnes (SG/SF – TOR): OVER 20.5 points

Scottie Barnes has been excellent for the Toronto Raptors. He leads the team with averages of 22.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. He has been flourishing in his new role under Darko Rajakovic and should only grow in confidence as the season progresses. As far as tonight’s point total, it has been set right on the edge of value. There is still value here as it would not appear here otherwise, but we are now splitting hairs with only matchup separating this from a strong More play, to a Less lean, to an avoid altogether. Scottie has scored 21 or more points in five of his last six games and has scored 20 or more in all six. Dallas, however, has held opposing wings to right around 20 per night. Barnes has the ball in his hands enough to hit this total whenever he wants, and against a team like Dallas, where O.G. Anunoby will be tasked with covering Luka Doncic and Dennis Schroeder with covering Kyrie Irving, Barnes should be leaned on even more than usual on the offensive end. Bump the More on Barnes for Wednesday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Victor Wembanyama (C – SAS): OVER 19.5 points

Wemby’s point total is another one set right on the edge of value, and this means we will likely be fading the totals on Wemby and Barnes that have been so good to us to start the season, sooner rather than later. Let’s look at this total. Set at 20.5 points initially, the initial lean was on the Less. Dropped to 19.5, the lean shifts to the More. Yes, I love Wemby and will ride with him whenever there is value, but the rookie has scored 20 or fewer points in five of his seven games this season. He is averaging 19.4 points per game, but those numbers are skewed by his 38 point master class against his idol Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. However, one thing I do know is that Greg Popovich is going to demand that Wemby be more aggressive tonight. Wemby was not very impressive in the first back-to-back of his NBA career, scoring just 13 points on .250 shooting in just 21 minutes of action. Tonight, Wemby will face off against a New York Knicks team without a standout defensive big (sorry Mitchell Robinson) and that has relinquished 21.4 points per game to opposing centers this season. Wembanyama has scored 20 or more in two of his last three games and has the opponent and the prior result to be aggressive enough from the field to hit 20 again tonight. Tap the More on Wemby for Wednesday night.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper, so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
