Welcome to Sleeper Picks! Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight’s NBA action. Similar to fantasy sports, the goal in Sleeper Picks is to draft a team of players based on who you think will perform better than the field. But with Sleeper Picks, you pick teams of 2-8 players from multiple teams based on your preferences and predict whether those players will score more or less than a predetermined amount. There are a number of ways to play and a variety of strategies to employ, and we’ll guide you through the process each week.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (3/1/24)

Season record: 159-91

Cade Cunningham (G – DET): OVER 3.5 rebounds

The 1.5 threes line was also in play here and should be considered, but with rebounding being more of an effort thing while strong shooting from deep often has its ebbs and flows, we opted for the more ‘controllable’ total. Cade Cunningham is a 6’6”, 220 lbs point guard with a seven foot wingspan. He can develop into one of the elites we have seen at the position, but with such a large load placed on him offensively, his rebounding totals are not what you’d expect from someone with his size and length. Cade has recorded four or more rebounds in each of his last seven games and is in an excellent position to do so again tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cade has faced the Cavs twice this season, hauling in five and two rebounds. Cleveland has surrendered 5.80 rebounds per game to the point guard position this season. Clap the More on Cunningham for Friday night.

Scottie Barnes (G/F – TOR): OVER 8.5 rebounds

Scottie has recorded eight or more rebounds in eight of his last nine and nine or more rebounds in seven of them. This total loses some value with the expected move to 8.5 but still offers value for those looking for a strong multiplier play to pair with a promo line or Domantas Sabonis double double. Golden State has allowed 10.65 rebounds per game to the power forward position this season. Bump the More on Barnes for Friday night.

DeMar DeRozan (G/F – CHI): OVER 4.5 assists

DeRozan stands pat at a 4.5 assist total after a five assist night against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, and as a result, offers strong value tonight against a Milwaukee Bucks team he gets up for and has shined as a playmaker against this season. DeMar recorded 11 and seven assists in his two games against the Bucks this season, putting him in an excellent position to hit at least five tonight. The Bulls will need to lean on DeRozan to have a chance against Milwaukee, so we can expect a high usage rate night. Demar has recorded five or more assists in five of his last six games and 12 of his last 17. Dap the More on DeRozan for Friday night basketball.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
