Welcome to Sleeper Picks! Sleeper’s newest offering promised plenty of entertainment and action, and they delivered. We will break down our top three picks for tonight's NBA action. Similar to fantasy sports, the goal in Sleeper Picks is to draft a team of players based on who you think will perform better than the field. But with Sleeper Picks, you pick teams of 2-8 players from multiple teams based on your preferences and predict whether those players will score more or less than a predetermined amount. There are a number of ways to play and a variety of strategies to employ, and we’ll guide you through the process each week.

NBA Sleeper Picks Player Predictions (4/24/24)

Regular season record: 202-130
Playoff record: 8-7

Jayson Tatum (F – BOS): OVER 5.5 assists

You don't usually think of Tatum as a standout playmaker, but he did average a solid 4.9 assists per game during the regular season. He wowed with a triple double in Game 1 and should look to continue setting up his teammates as the Celtics attempt to put the Heat in a 0-2 hole. Tatum has recorded six or more assists in three straight games and has recorded nine or more assists in each of his last two games against Miami. Tap the More on Tatum for Wednesday night.

Jaime Jaquez (G/F – MIA): OVER 14.5 points

Jaime stepped up in Game 1 to the tune of 16 points on 16 shots and will be expected to make another major contribution as a starter tonight. I was actually surprised that they only raised his point total by one point from Game 1, so lock this one in before the total expires or changes altogether. Jaime averaged 15.4 points per game in the 22 contests Jimmy Butler missed during the regular season. Jab the More on Jaime for Wednesday night basketball.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (G – OKC): OVER 8.5 1st quarter points

8.5 1st quarter points seems slightly ridiculous for someone who scored 'just' 28 points in Game 1, but SGA has been locked in as the tone-setter for the Thunder. SGA poured in nine first quarter points during Game 1 and has scored nine or more first quarter points in four of his last five and eight or more in all five. We will touch the More tonight based on trends, but consider alt lines when putting your ticket together for tonight's slate. SGA should come out swinging tonight after a disappointing Game 1, where the Thunder failed to separate themselves from a shorthanded New Orleans Pelicans team. Slap the More on SGA for Game 2.

Writers note: The lines are constantly changing on Sleeper (and sometimes expiring), so there is a high probability that one or all of the numbers may no longer be the same when you open your app. There are excellent values when they are first posted, with the only catch being that they are not all released at the same time. Vigilance could provide a solid return on investment this season, literally.
