Jacksonville Jaguars at Buffalo Bills Favorite Bet
No question about it, the Jacksonville Jaguars have been bad to start the season. They have an 0-2 record and are 1-1 against the spread (ATS) this season. Despite drafting receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and signing receiver Gabriel Davis, their passing attack has been limited to start the season. Theyâre only averaging 167.5 passing yards per game and much of that falls on the shoulders of quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Fortunately for the Jaguars, theyâve been able to run the football, with an average of 127 rushing yards per game. Being able to run the football against the Buffalo Bills wonât come easy as the Bills tend to play good defense under Sean McDermott, however they havenât been great against the run to start the season. Their 131.5 rushing yards allowed per game is in the bottom half of the NFL for run defense, so this could be a big spot for Travis Etienne to have his best game of the season.
Throughout his career, heâs only played in one game against the Buffalo Bills; it was last season in London and the Jaguars won the game 25-20. Etienne played well in that game, with 26 carries for 136 yards and two touchdowns. And with injuries to key defensive players such as Terrell Bernard, Taron Johnson, and Matt Milano, this game may not be as easy for the Bills as one would think. To start the season, the Jaguars win total was set at 8.5 wins and certainly they could still come in under that number, but do we really think that a team with their talent will start the season 0-3?
I just donât buy that, especially with how well some underdogs have been playing in the NFL to start the season. NFL underdogs of 5.5+ points are 13-2 ATS this season and theyâve won 9 games outright. In fact, underdogs of 5.5+ points went 4-0 on Sunday. Keep in mind that the underdog has won the last six games ATS whenever Jacksonville and Buffalo play each other. Statistically, both of these teams are very comparable, as the Jaguars only put up 295 total yards on offense and the Bills only put up 299.5 total yards on offense. This game feels like it should be close tonight and with the recent trend of underdogs staying hot to start the season, give me Travis Etienne to score and the Jaguars to earn their first win of the season.
