NFL Monday Night Football Anytime Touchdown Scorer Picks: Raiders vs. Lions (Week 8)

One more game to end the week, and it’s two teams coming off bad losses. The Lions were destroyed by the Ravens on the road, so they’ll want to get back on the right track. The Raiders lost to the Bears, who were starting their backup quarterback, who was an undrafted free agent making his NFL debut. Both teams need a win, so let’s look at some players who could influence the game with a touchdown.

Jahmyr Gibbs (-135)

Last week's game script didn't give many opportunities for Gibbs on the ground, but he did well with those chances, running for 6.2 yards per carry. David Montgomery will be out again, so the rookie will be the feature back. Las Vegas has been terrible against the run, allowing the third-most rushing touchdowns, so bank the Lions giving Gibbs a lot of touches.

Sam LaPorta (+140)

There is another rookie tight end on the other side who has been having an amazing year from the beginning. Sam LaPorta is third in touchdowns (3), fourth in receptions (35), and receiving yards (377) amongst the position. The Raiders have only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends this year, but they haven't faced a team that favors the position, with Cole Kmet being the only past opponent to have 30 or more targets going into this week. I'll take the guy with the team’s second-most red zone targets.

Michael Mayer (+380)

The rookie out of Notre Dame is starting to get the ball more, going from two targets in his four games to 13 in his last three. He has some confident hands, as he's yet to record a dropped and 100% contested catch rate on three targets. He doesn't have a touchdown, but the Lions have allowed the second-most to the position (4) and the third-most receiving yards (439).
