NFL Monday Night Football Odds, Picks & Predictions: Bills vs. Jets (Week 1)
Week 1 comes to a conclusion on Monday Night in an AFC East clash between the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.
Below, I will walk through my best bet to make for MNF.
Monday Night Football Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets
(Odds courtesy of BetRivers)
The new-look Jets feature a massive upgrade at QB with the off-season acquisition of Aaron Rodgers. However, the oldest player in football is coming off the worst season of his career, and I find it hard to believe that the near-40-year-old is going to see big positive regression even with the better weapons surrounding him compared to last year in Green Bay.
Meanwhile, New York features a defensive-minded head coach in Robert Saleh and an incredible amount of talent on that side of the ball. Last season, the Jets finished in the Top 3 of the league in passing yards allowed, passing touchdowns allowed and net yards gained per pass attempt against.
Possessing arguably the best pass defense in the league is exactly the recipe you need when facing Josh Allen and the high-powered Bills offense.
While most people/media focuses on Allen and Buffaloâs offense, its strong defense has flown under the radar and has been instrumental in its success over the past few seasons. Last year, in terms of expected points contributed, the Bills finished seventh in pass defense and 13th in rush defense.
There were 37 or fewer total points scored in each of the two meetings between these teams last year, and another low-scoring affair could be in store on Monday Night Football.
Pick: Under 45.5 (-109)
