Best Bet for Monday Night Football Week 4: Giants vs. Seahawks

If you want to lay the -1.5 on Seattle, be my guest, but I think it is more than worth it to lay the extra ten cents of juice to get rid of the line altogether.

With that said, there are numerous reasons to like the 2-1 Seahawks more than the 1-2 Giants this week. New York has looked terrible thus far, getting stomped by both the Cowboys and 49ers while nearly losing to a Joshua Dobbs-led Cardinals team that was winning that game by 20 at halftime. You can’t even buy the dude’s jersey in Arizona’s team store!

But I digress.

The Giants’ defense can be beaten both on the ground and through the air, and Seattle’s offense has proven it is proficient in attacking defenses by both methods. Geno Smith has certainly done his job, ranking eighth among QBs in Completion%, 11th in yards per game and fifth in QBR.

Meanwhile, Kenneth Walker continues to establish himself as a star at the running back position. He has now scored two touchdowns in back-to-back weeks and is averaging north of four-yards-per-carry.

On the flip side, New York ranks 28th in the league in expected points contributed by passing defense and 22nd in expected points contributed by rushing defense. Yeah, Seattle’s defense leaves much to be desired as well, but the Giants’ offense and its 277 yards-per-game (fifth-to-last in the league) should not instill too much fear into a group that will see the return of Jamal Adams.

Speaking of injuries, Saquon Barkley will likely be a game time decision on Monday night, and his high-ankle-sprain status does not bode well for such a quick turnaround. Even if he plays, which I doubt he would be able to do at even half-capacity, I like the Seahawks to move to 6-0 when playing at MetLife Stadium.

Pick: Seahawks ML (-124)
