NFL Monday Night Football Player Prop Betting Picks: Packers vs. Raiders (Week 5)

Week 5 comes to a conclusion with Monday Night Football as the Raiders host the Packers. Below, I will walk through my best player prop bet to make for this matchup.

Christian Watson Under 42.5 Receiving Yards (+100 via DraftKings)

We are getting a relatively big number here because the Raiders pass defense continues to struggle mightily, a trend that has developed over the past few seasons. With that said, I also don’t have a ton of faith in Christian Watson or Green Bay’s offense to take advantage.

The Packers’ offense has struggled since beating the brakes off the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Green Bay ranks third-to-last in total yards per game and has now scored 20 or fewer points in back-to-back weeks.

Specifically, we are going to target Watson to go Under his receiving total of 42.5 in this outing. After missing the first three weeks with a hamstring injury, he caught two passes on a modest four targets for 25 yards and a touchdown against the Detroit Lions last week.

A hamstring is one of the worst nagging injuries a receiver can have, and that could absolutely play a factor in the continued limitations of Watson. But, say that hamstring has no bearing on his performance on Monday, there is still the issue of chemistry with Jordan Love.

That is something they will continue to work on improving now that Watson is healthy, but in Watson’s absence, Love has clearly found his favorite in Romeo Doubs. Despite the return of Watson last week, Doubs paced all Green Bay weapons in targets (13), receptions (9) and yards (95).

Even rookie Jayden Reed has utilized the first few weeks of work with Love to garner more attention in the passing game, as he finished with more targets and receptions than Watson last week. I think Watson’s performance will improve with more minutes logged alongside Love, but I would find a 20+ yard increase in production surprising, even against this leaky Raiders pass defense.
