NFL Monday Night Football Player Props (Week 1)

The first Monday Night Football game of the 2024-25 NFL regular season features an interconference matchup between the San Francisco 49ers vs. New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers is back to full health and returns under center for the Jets tonight, while Brock Purdy and the 49ers are coming off a tough overtime loss in the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Brandon Aiyuk is back in San Francisco and each team has made moves to bolster their offensive and defensive lines during free agency and the NFL Draft. The Jets are +4.5 underdogs on the point spread on the road at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The point total is 43.5, with -115 odds on the under, implying that Monday night’s game could be a lower-scoring contest.

Breece Hall O 28.5 Receiving Yards (-110)

New York’s backfield features third-year running back, Breece Hall, who has been a one-man wrecking crew during his tenure with the Jets. Now that Rodgers is back to give the offense a much-needed boost at quarterback, Hall should be able to capitalize on his ability as a receiver out of the backfield. 28.5 receiving yards is where his line is set and it feels like he can easily surpass this number against the 49ers on Monday night.

Hall is going to see more accurate targets and Jets wideout Garrett Wilson will undoubtedly be the defense’s top priority on passing plays. Hall went over 28.5 receiving yards in eight of 17 games during 2023. All we need is one or two chunk receptions to hit the over on this total, so let’s invest in Hall’s pass-catching ability as he builds rapport with Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers O 235.5 Passing Yards (-110)

Aaron Rodgers will have a chip on his shoulder following a long year of critics doubting his health and stability in the league. He’s thrown for over 261 yards in three straight road games against the 49ers, who will be without top safety, Talanoa Hufanga, on Monday night.

Mike Williams’ addition to the Jets’ wide receiving corps is huge, since he’s a vertical threat and a big-bodied target in the red zone. Stretching the field for Wilson and Hall is key for New York’s offense to sustain drives. Plus, Rodgers should have more time to go through his progressions behind a beefed-up offensive line that includes veteran Tyron Smith at left tackle and Morgan Moses at right tackle.

The interior offensive line is strong as well, so with Rodgers getting an extra second or two in the pocket, he should surpass 235.5 passing yards against the 49ers’ secondary.

Brock Purdy O 8.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

Brock Purdy’s mobility doesn’t get discussed nearly enough. The 49ers’ quarterback is great at extending plays and is willing to scramble when the field opens up accordingly. We’ve seen Purdy record at least nine rushing yards in five of 16 regular season games in 2023, going well over this number in all three playoff games as well.

The Jets’ defense is a strong unit top to bottom, so there will be times when Purdy is forced to tuck it and run on Monday night. Let’s make sure we invest a unit on over 8.5 total rushing yards for Purdy.

Mike Williams Any Time TD Scorer (+280)

We’re having some fun with this Any Time TD Scorer prop bet with the Jets’ newly acquired wideout, Mike Williams. Williams left the Chargers this offseason and should rejuvenate. a to-heavy wide receiving corps for the Jets.

His combination of size and speed could cause problems for the 49ers’ defensive backs, especially in the red zone and off play-action. Williams is +280 to score a touchdown, giving us lucrative odds on a player who is being overlooked in favor of Hall and Wilson. Rodgers should look his way often in the red zone and capitalize on his size with an out route or back shoulder fade in the end zone.

Let’s stake half a unit on Williams to score a touchdown at +280 odds on Monday night.
