NFL Monday Night Football Player Props (Week 5): Chiefs vs. Saints
Monday Night Football is back to only one primetime game in Week 5, featuring an interconference matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs vs. New Orleans Saints at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Chiefs are 4-0 and coming off of a solid outing against the Los Angeles Chargers, erasing a 10-point deficit in the first quarter to wind up outscoring the Chargers 17-0 in the final three quarters to mount a divisional comeback win on the road. Now, Kansas City returns home to host a scrappy 2-2 Saints team that started 2024 on fire with lopsided wins over Carolina and Dallas. New Orleans lost a low-scoring, physical matchup at home to the Eagles, 15-12 in Week 3, and lost to the Falcons on a walk-off field goal 26-24 on the road in Week 4.
Last week, my Week 4 Monday Night Football player props for Miami vs. Tennessee and Detroit vs. Seattle went 2-2, so letâs attempt a 2-0 sweep with two more player props to bet ahead of tonightâs matchup between Kansas City and New Orleans. NFL MNF Week 5 Player Props
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Chris Olave Over 59.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
Neither of these teams will play well on the ground, as both defensive units are stout defending the run. This means weâll see Saints QB Derek Carr turn to his top target, WR Chris Olave, who has at least six targets in three consecutive games, including 10 against the Falcons in Week 4.
This volume has led to Olave recording 81 or more receiving yards during this three-game stretch, most recently going 8-87 on 10 targets against a good Falcons secondary in Week 4. The Chiefsâ pass defense has been more vulnerable in 2024, allowing over 225 passing yards in three of four games until playing Justin Herbert in Week 4.
Olave is the key to New Orleansâ success downfield, as RB Alvin Kamara will be blanketed out of the backfield, so letâs back the 2022 11th overall pick to churn out 60 or more receiving yards against the Chiefs on Monday night.
Kareem Hunt Over 2.5 Receptions (+116)
Weâre going to back Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt to go over 2.5 receptions at plus odds against the Saints on Monday night. Hunt saw three targets against the Chargers during his first game with Kansas City in 2024, turning those three targets into two receptions for 12 yards.
Chiefs RB Samaje Perine played 40 percent of snaps but saw zero targets, while Carson Steele played 11 percent of snaps and got three targets. Hunt played the most snaps at 45 percent in Week 4, while also drawing three targets. With Chiefs WR Rashee Rice injured and out of the lineup, Patrick Mahomes will likely look to Hunt out of the backfield to pick up first downs against a stout New Orleans run defense.
Letâs back Hunt to go over 2.5 receptions at +116 odds, as heâs already looking like the RB1 in Kansas City, while earning a bigger role in the passing attack due to the Chiefsâ limited weapons.
