Jacksonville Jaguars at Buffalo Bills Preview & Predictions
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
It's been a rough start to the year for Jacksonville after the wheels came off to end 2023. The offense has struggled to get going with a loss to the Dolphins in Week 1 and another to the Browns in Week 2. They've managed only 295 yards of offense per game this season and scored only 15 points per game. One saving grace is they've done a good job defensively this season, especially against the run.
In Week 1, Jacksonville bottled up the running game of the Dolphins. Lead backs DeâVon Achane and Raheem Mostert weren't able to get going and Miami managed just 81 yards on 25 attempts. They followed this up with a strong performance against a run-heavy Cleveland team, allowing 125 yards on 29 attempts. This bodes well against a Buffalo offense that wants to run the ball and ranks in the top half of the league in DVOA.
Buffalo had no problem with Miami in Week 2, but that's a matchup they've dominated over the last few years. Mix in the fact Tua Tagovailoa left the game with a brutal head injury and the Bills were able to cruise to a victory. Defensively, this team has holes and injuries. The underlying stats look formidable, but the matchups have been favorable. Jacksonville will be a test for this Bills' defense and Josh Allen will take a 1-2 straight up record against the Jaguars (0-2 against Trevor Lawrence) into Monday night. The numbers indicate this is a spot to back the Jaguars.
Pick: Jaguars +5.5 (-105)
