Tennessee Titans vs. Miami Dolphins Predictions
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Things have not started off the way Miami had hoped this season. After a come-from-behind win in Week 1, the Dolphins fell in back-to-back contests without starting QB Tua Tagovailoa. He's still on injured reserve (IR). Backup Skylar Thompson is also nursing an injury, so the Dolphins turn to journeyman Tyler Huntley to run the offense. In limited starting experience, Huntley has had some success. This includes a cover and a near straight up win in the playoffs in 2022. With this being his first game with the Dolphins, they're likely to keep things simple, but Miami has enough weapons to make Huntley dangerous.
Meanwhile, we cannot trust this Tennessee offense. They rank as one of the worst offenses by DVOA. Specifically in the passing game, where they are 29 in passing DVOA. This is mostly due to the chaotic nature of second-year QB Will Levis. Levis has made truly questionable decisions that have led to five interceptions on the season, which ranks second in the league through three weeks. They might not be able to take advantage of a poor Miami defense that ranks near dead last in defensive DVOA. For the Titans' defensive unit, they could be down a few key pieces. This would be a big blow to a unit that has carried the rest of the team.
Although both teams have looked poor during most parts of the season, Miami's struggles can almost certainly be accredited to the schedule they've played so far. Both Buffalo and Seattle, who defeated Miami, came into Week 4 undefeated. Tennessee should be a reprieve for this team, especially the defense. Miami cannot take advantage of early season heat with it being a night game, but their home-field advantage should be enough to cover.
Pick: Dolphins -2.5 (-115)
