2023 NFL Preseason Odds & Picks
Here are our top picks and predictions for Fridayâs NFL preseason action.
Lions vs. Panthers
The Lions are unlikely to play their starters for this matchup with Carolina. This means more of Nate Sudfeld and Teddy Bridgewater at QB. This hasnât boded well for Detroit as Sudfeld has struggled in both games and Bridgewater did not look sharp in his first action against Jacksonville. Carolina is expected to play their starters, but theyâve struggled offensively in both preseason games no matter who was lining up. It took them until the fourth quarter of preseason Week 2 to score their first touchdown. With both of these offenses being incredibly stagnant throughout the preseason, I donât see this game having many points scored. The under is the best angle for this matchup.
Pick: Under 37 (-110)

Patriots vs. Titans
The Patriots get one more chance to fine-tune this offense before the season. The offense has already looked better than last year, thanks to bringing back Bill O'Brien, and you should expect to see Mac Jones and the first unit get an extended amount of time on the field. We know that Ryan Tannehill will be the starter, but who will be his backup? It comes down to their 2023 pick Will Levis, and 2022 pick Malik Willis, but at the moment, Levis is dealing with an injury and could be sidelined for the final game. Willis played the entire second preseason game and was great with his legs but underwhelming with his arms. Tannehill should play a little, but not enough to help lift the Titans past the Pats.
Pick: Patriots -2 (-110)
-John Supowitz
Chargers vs. 49ers
The Chargers arenât expected to be playing their starters and thatâs why weâre seeing such a large line in this matchup. Brandon Staley has his sights set on a pivotal season for the Chargers and his own sake. Kyle Shanahan has already noted that the 49ers starters, including Brock Purdy, will play in the preseason finale. Sam Darnold and even Trey Lance should get some run in this contest. With that stable of quarterbacks going up against backup defenders, the 49ers should have a lot of success on offense. The line in this matchup is over a touchdown currently, but Iâm confident the 49ers will be able to cover this on Friday night.
Pick: 49ers -7 (-110)
-Ryan Rodeman
