2023 NFL Preseason Odds & Picks

Here are our top picks and predictions for Saturday’s NFL preseason action.

Bills vs. Bears

Chicago is in a tricky spot. The offense has not looked good throughout training camp and the preseason. And last year, the Bears starters played a decent amount in the preseason finale. However, do the Bears risk Justin Fields’ health behind an offensive line that is dealing with several injuries to its starting unit? My hunch is the Bears take the cautious approach with their dynamic third-year QB. As for Buffalo, the starters didn’t look great either in last week’s preseason loss to Pittsburgh. But the Bills are a far more established entity with an eye on a much greater prize. My guess is we don’t see many, if any, of Buffalo’s starters in the preseason finale. However, Buffalo’s backup QB race between Matt Barkley and Kyle Allen has become awfully interesting, and I’ll take both of those guys over Chicago’s group of PJ Walker, Nathan Peterman, and Tyson Bagent. I’ll take the Bills as short road dogs.

Pick: Bills +1.5 (-110)

-Matt Barbato

Seahawks vs. Packers

Jordan Love is going to play for the Packers; the question is, for how long? Either way, Love’s presence signifies that we could see at least a handful of Green Bay’s offensive starters see the field against Seattle, who looks likely to sit most of their veterans and starters. While the Seahawks are using this game to solve some roster spot questions, the Packers appear intent on using the preseason finale to help Love enter the regular season on a high note. This line has moved in Green Bay’s favor, and I agree with it. I’ll take the Packers laying a field goal at home.

Pick: Packers -3 (-110)

-Matt Barbato

Cardinals vs. Vikings

The Cardinals made news as they unloaded a couple of players, and they went and added quarterback depth with Joshua Dobbs. Arizona has been giving quarterback Clayton Tune a lot of playing time, and you have to wonder if they will consider making the rookie the starter in Week 1. You might have to wait a couple of more weeks to see Kirk Cousin and his mustache on the field. Cousins didn't play in the preseason last year, and he isn't expected to play in this one. The Vikings have not put an emphasis on winning these games, as they're currently 0-5 in preseason games under Kevin O'Connell. So take the Cardinals getting points.

Pick: Cardinals +1.5 (-110)

-John Supowitz

Browns vs. Chiefs

Both the Chiefs and Browns are expected to play their starters a bit in the preseason finale. These teams have both had some success offensively in the preseason, and I expect that to continue in this matchup. The Chiefs haven’t missed a beat since their Super Bowl run, scoring 31 points per game. Shane Buechele has been fantastic with a 112.2 passer rating, good enough for fourth-best in the preseason. Having solid depth is crucial in these preseason games. On the Browns’ sideline, you have a fantastic backup in Dorian Thompson-Robinson as well. He’s led all players in passing yards in the preseason and will look to put on one more fantastic performance to solidify a roster spot in Cleveland. No matter how you slice it, there should be a lot of scoring in this game, and I’m leaning towards the over.

Pick: Over 41.5 (-105)

-Ryan Rodeman

Jets vs. Giants

In the last game, Daniel Jones and Darren Waller got one series together, and they looked to be foreshadowing for the upcoming season because Jones targeted Waller four times out of nine passes. Aaron Rodgers will debut with the Jets, and it'll be the first time he plays in the preseason since 2018. Head coach Robert Saleh has already indicated that it isn't just one series and out because he would like the first unit to make adjustments and build chemistry. I'm not expecting much playing time from the Giants starters, and I think you'll see some growing pains from the Jets offense. I like the under in this game.

Pick: Under 39 (-110)

-John Supowitz

Bengals vs. Commanders

The Bengals are still looking to name their backup quarterback heading into the final preseason game of the season. It's between Jake Browning and Trevor Siemian. If we're going off their last game against the Falcons, Browning looked better. However, he also played more and had one interception. Meanwhile, Washington is 2-0 in preseason play. The Commanders just added 29 points in their massive win over Baltimore. Sam Howell looked incredible, but Jake Fromm and Jacoby Brissett did OK, too. No matter what quarterback plays, Washington is in good hands. This team had 19 players catch a pass in their win against the Ravens. Trust the Commanders. They'll stay undefeated this year in the preseason.

Pick: Commanders -4.5 (-110)

-Jason Radowitz

Ravens vs. Buccaneers

The Ravens care about winning in the preseason. Yes, the 24-game win streak in the preseason is finished. However, the Ravens are still a great ball club with much potential against a weak Buccaneers offense. The Buccaneers already named Baker Mayfield as the starting quarterback. He had been fighting with Kyle Trask for the starting job. But now, looking back, it likely wasn't much of a competition. Still, Trask has added 317 yards and one touchdown in preseason. He'll probably play at least the second half of this game. On the other hand, the Ravens have scored at least 20 points in each of their first two games of the preseason. Baltimore has used Josh Johnson and Anthony Brown for most of their games. Tyler Huntley is questionable, and it's unclear if Lamar Jackson will get a chance to shine in this one. Still, the Ravens have way more offensive playmakers.

Pick: Ravens +1.5 (-110)

-Jason Radowitz

Dolphins vs. Jaguars

Miami likely won't give Tua Tagovailoa much work, if any, in Week 3 of the preseason. Meanwhile, Mike White has a concussion. Therefore, it's up to Skyler Thompson to shine for the Dolphins. He added 15 completions on 22 attempts against the Texans. He led the Dolphins to a 28-3 win after adding three touchdowns. However, the Jaguars have better this season, earning at least 25 points in their first two preseason games. On the other hand, it sounds like Trevor Lawrence will get reps early on in this game. Plus, C.J. Beathard and Nathan Rourke have provided solid offense behind Lawrence. I think we'll get plenty of offense in this game. Take the Over.

Pick: Over 41 (-110)

-Jason Radowitz

Raiders vs. Cowboys

The Raiders are destroying in the preseason. They've added 34 points in each of their last two games. Meanwhile, the defense hasn't allowed more than 17 in those two games. Aidan O'Connell has shined for the Raiders. Some think he'll eventually take over for Jimmy Garoppolo. It's too early to tell, but he will likely get the reps late in the game. On the other hand, the Cowboys have lost two games to begin the preseason. They've allowed at least 22 points in each game. Dak Prescott is unlikely to play in this game. Therefore, the Cowboys are stuck with Will Grier and Cooper Rush. Neither quarterback has much of an "it" factor. Take the Raiders to finish off the Cowboys.

Pick: Raiders -5 (-110)

-Jason Radowitz

Rams vs. Broncos

The Rams are trending as an automatic fade in the preseason. A veteran-laden team that lacks depth is a prime candidate for a team that isn’t going to take the preseason all too seriously. On the other hand, the Broncos have played their starters pretty often throughout this preseason. They likely won’t see the field in this matchup, and that should make this matchup much closer than the books are suggesting. Denver has blown fourth-quarter leads in both games so far, so it’s hard to trust them to close out a game, especially as large favorites. On the other hand, the Rams haven’t shown many signs of life, especially on defense, allowing 34 points per game. Denver has shown me nothing on offense to suggest they could exploit that. Hold your nose and take the Rams to cover in this preseason finale.

Pick: Rams +6 (-110)
