Philadelphia Eagles First TD Scorer: Dallas Goedert (+750)
After missing the past three games and four weeks with a fractured forearm, Goedert will return Sunday night against the Cowboys. Don't be surprised if the Eagles welcome the star tight end back with several targets early in the game. The veteran has only two receiving touchdowns this season, the third-most on the team. However, both have come in his past five contests. More importantly, both of Goedert's receiving scores were the first Philadelphia touchdown in those games.
Last week, the Cowboys defense has no answers for DK Metcalf, giving up three receiving scores to the star wide receiver, including the first in the game for the Seattle Seahawks. However, Dallas has had trouble keeping tight ends out of the end zone this year, giving up the second-most to the position (six). More importantly, three of those six touchdowns scored by tight ends were the first touchdown in the game for their team. Two of those three tight end touchdowns have happened over the past four weeks.
Dallas Cowboys First TD Scorer: Jake Ferguson (+600)
Ferguson had the first Cowboys touchdown when these two teams met in Week 9. The second-year tight end is second on the team with five receiving touchdowns. He has scored four of the touchdowns over the past six weeks. More importantly, Ferguson has scored the first Dallas touchdown in three games this season, the most on the team. A tight end has scored the first Cowboys touchdown in 33.3% of the games this year, with all but one coming from the second-year player.
Surprisingly, the Eagles have struggled to slow down tight ends in 2023. They have given up six receiving touchdowns to tight ends, the second-most in the NFL. Opposing tight ends have found the end zone in three of the past five matchups against Philadelphia. More importantly, half of those six touchdowns were the first score of the game for their opponents, including Ferguson in the Week 9 win over Dallas. Don't be surprised if the Cowboys target Ferguson early in the rematch.
Anytime TD Scorer: Jalen Hurts (-140)
The Eagles have the most unstoppable play in football - the Tush Push. Everything Philadelphia gets in a situation where they need one yard, Hurts gets pushed forward for at least one. The Tush Push play is a significant reason why the star quarterback has the most rushing touchdowns among quarterbacks and is second only to Raheem Mostert in the NFL (12). He has had a rushing score in 75% of the games this year, including four straight and seven of the past eight contests.
Meanwhile, Dallas didn't surrender a rushing touchdown to a quarterback over the first eight weeks. However, they've given up a rushing touchdown to quarterbacks in back-to-back contests. More importantly, Hurts had a rushing touchdown in the Week 9 win. Whenever the Eagles are at the goal line, the star quarterback is destined to get pushed in for six. More aggressive bettors should bet on Hurts to score twice (+390). He has two rushing touchdowns in two of the past three games.
Anytime TD Scorer: CeeDee Lamb (-150)
Lamb started the season slowly. The superstar wide receiver didn't have a receiving touchdown over the first three weeks and had only one heading into the team's Week 7 bye. However, he had been a touchdown machine since the bye week. Lamb has six receiving touchdowns and a rushing score over the past six weeks, scoring at least once in all but one contest. The former Oklahoma star has more games with two touchdowns (two) than without a score (one) since his hot streak started in Week 8.
Last year, the Eagles had a solid pass defense, giving up zero rushing scores and 16 receiving touchdowns to wide receivers. By comparison, Philadelphia has given up the second-most rushing touchdowns (two) and the most receiving scores (21) to wide receivers this season. Last week, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver core had four receiving touchdowns. Furthermore, Deebo Samuel destroyed the Eagles for two receiving and a rushing touchdown in Week 13. Lamb will find the end zone at least once Sunday night.
