NFL Thursday Night Football Player Prop Picks: Giants vs. 49ers (Week 3)

The 49ers are looking poised to get back to the NFC Champions, as they’ve looked great in the first two games. The Giants had an amazing second-half comeback but in the process, lost their star running back Saquon Barkley and starting left tackle Andrew Thomas. It will be tough for the G-Men to win in The Bay, but let’s see if they have another miracle in them.

Let’s look at the best player props for tonight.

Matt Breida Over 2.5 Catches (+140)

With Saquon out, Matt Brieda looks to get the most of the work, while Eric Gray will also get some touches.  Brieda is a comparable option in the passing game and had 20 catches last year in the backup role. They will do their best to fill Saquon’s spot as much as possible, including catching passes. You also have to take in the revenge game factor.

Daniel Jones Over 0.5 Interceptions (-120)

As stated, the absence of Saquon Barkley will loom large for Daniel Jones and the Giants offense. We’ve seen in the past this offense struggle when Barkley is sidelined because it forces Jones to pass more than he intends. In fact, Daniel Jones has more interceptions than touchdowns (16-17) in games without Barkley. Another big blow is losing LT Andrew Thomas as he was put on IR. San Fransisco already has four interceptions this season and will put enough pressure on Jones to force at least one.

Christian McCaffrey Over 78.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

Christian McCaffrey has looked great, and he’s putting up dominating numbers, just like a couple of years ago in Carolina. He’s averaging an incredible 134 yards and a touchdown as the 49ers are the only undefeated team in the NFC West. The Giants have not done well against the run, allowing the second-most rushing touchdowns and the seventh-most rushing yards. San Francisco’s offense evolves around the ground game, and McCaffrey will get plenty of carries to hit this prop.

Brock Purdy Under 228.5 Passing Yards (-125)

As mentioned, the key for the 49ers offense to work is by establishing the run game. They’ve been able to do that very well this season, and that’s why Brock Purdy hasn’t been needed and has just 429 passing yards. With them being favored by two possessions, it is believed that San Fransisco will easily handle this matchup, and the game script will keep Purdy under this total for the third straight week.
