NFL Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay: Patriots vs. Jets
Week 3 of the NFL season is here, and we have a second-straight AFC East matchup on deck on Thursday Night Football with the New York Jets hosting the New England Patriots.
Below, youâll find a three-leg Same Game Parlay with odds of +800 for this game.
Patriots vs. Jets: Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook. All bets are one unit unless otherwise stated.
- Leg 1: Patriots +6 (-108)
- Leg 2: Rhamondre Stevenson Anytime TD (+125)
- Leg 3: Braelon Allen 25+ Rushing Yards (+105)
Patriots +6 (-108)
The Patriots head into Week 3 coming off a tough home loss against the Seattle Seahawks. At one point in the game, they led 20-17, but as they went to kick a field goal to put them ahead by six, the kick was blocked. This allowed the Seahawks to tie the game and take it to overtime, and unfortunately, the Patriotsâ offense isnât built to win in situations like that.
However, as we saw in Week 1, their defense and approach to offense will drag out games, and while it isnât the most exciting brand of football, it does keep games close.
Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo mentioned that the team and quarterback Jacoby Brissett needs to start pushing the ball downfield more, but Iâm not sure the New York Jets secondary is the unit to try that against. It appears D.J. Reed and Michael Carter II will be back in the lineup after getting in two straight full practices.
So, I think weâll get a lot of the same here-the Patriots run the ball effectively, and the defense keeps it close. Of course, theyâre taking on a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, which could create a unique set of issues, but this is Thursday Night Football on a quick turnaround, so I expect weâll see more simplistic approaches schematically.
Six points to the Jets is far too much considering how theyâve looked to start the season, coupled with a team in the Patriots that wants to run the ball early and often.
Rhamondre Stevenson Anytime Touchdown (+125)
As I mentioned above, I expect the Patriots to run the ball plenty, and Stevenson will be the primary beneficiary of that.
The Jets defense has allowed 229 rushing yards on 51 tries and a touchdown to start the year. Yes, most of that came against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1, but they still allowed 82 rushing yards to the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
The Patriots are averaging 177.5 rushing yards per game. Stevenson had 25 carries in Week 1 and 21 in Week 2, scoring both weeks. The Patriots also average 37.5 rush attempts per game, just one behind the league-leading Pittsburgh Steelers.
Iâll take a chance on the volume here.
Braelon Allen 25+ Rushing Yards (+105)
While the Jets have Breece Hall as their lead back, the fact of the matter is that heâs just not an efficient runner.
On 30 carries, he has 116 yards and one rushing touchdown. Heâs averaging just 3.9 yards per carry.
The backup, 20-year-old Braelon Allen, has gotten just eight carries this season for 41 yards (5.1 yards per carry) and one run of 10-plus yards. Hall, who has 22 carries more than him, has two runs of 10-plus yards.
Against the Patriots, I expect the Jets to also run the ball more here, and I think Allen, the more explosive player out of the backfield, gives them a better chance to move the chains.
At 5.1 yards per carry, he just needs five carries to get to 25 rushing yards.
