NFL Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay: Texans vs. Jets
Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season kicks off on Halloween Night between the New York Jets and Houston Texans. The Texans are 6-2 and in first place in the AFC South. However, theyâre without wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who tore his ACL in Week 8 and is out for the season.
The Jets are the favorite here but are 2-6 on the year and 0-5 in their last five games. Theyâre coming off a 25-22 road loss to the New England Patriots.
Below is an easygoing Same Game Parlay going all-in on the Texans and running back Joe Mixon. The odds are +276.

Thursday Night Football Same Game Parlay: Texans vs. Jets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook | All bets are one unit unless otherwise stated)
- Leg 1: Houston Texans +1.5 (-105)
- Leg 2: Joe Mixon Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-145)
- Leg 3: Joe Mixon 90+ Rushing Yards (+120)
Houston Texans +1.5 (-105)
The Texans head into this game without Diggs and fellow wide receiver Nico Collins. This leaves the Texans and quarterback C.J. Stroud with Tank Dell, Xavier Hutchinson and Robert Woods as his starting receivers.
Additionally, he has Mixon and tight end Dalton Schultz to work with.
If you look at the Jets injury report, several players are out, including safety Tony Adams, safety Ashtyn Davis, defensive lineman Leki Fotu, wide receiver Allen Lazard, linebacker C.J. Mosley and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker. Several other players are heading into this game with limited practice on a short week.
The Jets being favored here makes some sense due to the lack of receivers on the Texans, but Mixon is the key to victory.
The Jets have allowed three rushing touchdowns to running backs over the last two weeks. They held the Patriots to just 25 carries for 55 yards (2.2 yards per carry), but they had two rushing scores, including a game-winning score from running back Rhamondre Stevenson.
Stroud has completed 66.5% of his passes for 1,948 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions. He doesnât turn the ball over often, and Dell has been a solid option in this offense. He caught four passes for 35 yards and a touchdown in Week 8. In Week 6, he caught seven passes on nine targets for 57 yards and a touchdown.
I think the Texansâ ground game, led by Mixon, puts them over the top.
Joe Mixon Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-145)
Mixon has played in five games this season and scored six touchdowns. Heâs scored in all but one game this season, Week 2, when he got hurt against the Chicago Bears at home. As noted, the Jets have allowed three rushing touchdowns over the past two weeks and four over the past four games.
In Week 8, they held the Patriots to just 2.2 yards per carry, but they still showed they were prone to the run, allowing two rushing touchdowns.
Mixon should continue to have an excellent season here on âThursday Night Football.â
Joe Mixon 90+ Rushing Yards (+120)
Other than Week 2, when Mixon got hurt, he has run for 102 yards or more in every game this season. Here, the line is just 90 yards.
The Jets have allowed 90 yards or more to opposing running backs in four games this season, including in two of the last three. As for individual running backs, only three have hit 90 yards.
The Texans are without running back Dameon Pierce in this game, leaving even more opportunity for Mixon. Heâs had 25 carries in back-to-back games, and I think that level of volume continues here, thanks to the lack of receivers and backfield depth.
Parlay Odds: +276
