NFL Thursday Night Football TD Scorers: Broncos vs. Chargers (Week 16)

This is huge in terms of the AFC playoff picture. The Broncos and Chargers are the #6 and #7 seeds, respectively. While Los Angeles has a two-game lead with three games remaining for the last playoff spot, it isn’t locked in. This will likely determine who has the higher seed and won’t have to face the top team in the first round. Let’s look at some players who could find the end zone.

Thursday’s Best NFL TD Scorer Picks: Broncos vs. Chargers
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Ladd McConkey – First Touchdown Scorer (+800)
McConkey was one of the rookie quarters who got some buzz going into the draft. When the Chargers drafted him, you knew he was there to replace Keenan Allen. He has tough shoes to fill but looks comfortable in this offense, as he leads the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards.
He's Justin Herbert's go-to in the red zone with eight targets, showing off his confident hands with seven catches and three touchdowns.
Bo Nix – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+240)
Nix established himself as a dual-threat quarterback in college, so he will tuck and take off. In two seasons at Oregon, he had 20 rushing touchdowns and 5.2 yards per carry, which established him as one of the top players in the country.
He's only had four rushing touchdowns this year, but he can break one off anytime. Los Angeles is 21st in rushing yards allowed to the quarterback, and in the last matchup, Nix had one of his best days on the ground with 61 yards and a season-best 10.2 yards per carry.
Quentin Johnston – Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+270)
It's frustrating to watch Johnston because he could be a special player if he fixed the issue with drops.
He's been much better this season in terms of production, as he leads the team with eight receiving touchdowns. Pat Surtain II is dealing with an ankle issue that could prevent him from playing this game. If that happens, this could be a big spot for Johnston. Surtain has lined up against a wideout on 85.8% of his snaps so he would have been assigned to Johnston for most of the game.
Herbert is a veteran who knows how to exploit matchups so that Johnston might have a lot of targets.
