NFL Week 10 Pickâem Pool Predictions
New England Patriots vs. Chicago Bears
After starting 4-2, the Bears have lost back-to-back games. None of their performances this season was more disappointing than their 29-9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Quarterback Caleb Williams has now completed fewer than 55% of his passes in consecutive games and has been sacked 12 times in his last three contests.
Meanwhile, the Patriots continued to look competitive, as they lost 20-17 in overtime against the Tennessee Titans. While the Titans certainly aren't a team to be concerned with, the game proved the Patriots can overcome three turnovers and still almost pull out wins, even with an inexperienced quarterback.
The Patriots are allowing over 136 rushing yards per game, but that's strictly because they've been trailing so much. The run defense has been solid, allowing 4.5 yards per carry, which is right in the middle of the league. If they can make the Bears one-dimensional and force Williams to beat them, they can win this game. Honestly, at this moment, Drake Maye looks better than Williams.
Pick: Patriots
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Washington Commanders
The Commanders have been one of the best storylines in the season, as Jayden Daniels has led them to a 7-2 start. However, it's officially time to start fading them. They have a strength of victory of just .339, and they've yet to beat a team that is more than one game over .500.
This week, the Commanders have to take on a solid Steelers team coming off their bye week. While the Commanders have won three games in a row, two of those wins were by five points or fewer, and one was off the miracle Hail Mary by Daniels against the Bears.
With Russell Wilson under center, the Steelers have scored 63 points in two weeks. The Commanders currently have the 11th-best scoring defense in the NFL, but, again, so much of their success is because of their strength of schedule. Against the second-best scoring defense in football, Daniels will finally struggle, as the Steelers leave Washington with a road win.
Pick: Steelers
New York Jets vs. Arizona Cardinals
The closest spread of the week belongs to this game, where the red-hot Cardinals are slight favorites over the 3-6 Jets. The Jets won convincingly over the Houston Texans last week. They would have likely won by double figures had it not been for a mindless fumble an inch from the end zone.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals have won four of their last five games with three of those four wins coming by two points or fewer. During their current run, they have wins over solid teams, so there's no reason to shrug off their success. However, they may be catching the Jets at the worst time now that they have confidence after ending their five-game losing streak.
This game will ultimately come down to whether or not Aaron Rodgers turns the ball over. Last week, he threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions, which prevented his defense from ever being put in a bad spot. The Cardinals have been good this season, but Kyler Murray has five games of fewer than 200 yards. With how good the Jets' defense has been, Murray may end up under 200 again. If Rodgers takes care of the ball, the Cardinals won't be able to overcome that and keep up, even in a low-scoring game.
Pick: Jets
Miami Dolphins vs. Los Angeles Rams
The Dolphins have suffered two heartbreaking defeats in a row, losing back-to-back games on last-second field goals. Meanwhile, the Rams are coming off a thrilling overtime victory over the Seattle Seahawks, and they've won three games in a row.
The spread for this game feels like a trap. The Rams are at home, they're playing good football, all of their offensive weapons are back and they're taking on a 2-6 team. Yet, they're only favored by 2.5 points. It feels like oddsmakers are begging bettors to take the Rams in this game.
But the Dolphins aren't nearly as bad as their record suggests. With Tua Tagovailoa back at quarterback, the offense has come to life, scoring 27 points in back-to-back games while amassing over 370 yards. They will achieve both of those feats this week, which will be enough to secure the win.
Pick: Dolphins
