NFL Week 12 Pick’Em Pool Advice

New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons

This is the hardest game of the week to pick. The Falcons have lost three in a row, two of which came against the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans. Desmond Ridder has been named the Falcons’ starting quarterback for the remainder of the season, but he has thrown as many touchdowns as interceptions this year.

Meanwhile, the Saints are far from a sure thing. They’re just 5-5 and suffered numerous injuries before their bye week. Derek Carr is still in concussion protocol, Michael Thomas is on IR and Marshon Lattimore is expected to miss this week’s game. With those injuries, the Saints will likely need Jameis Winston to play clean, mistake-free football to get the win. But in relief for Carr against the Minnesota Vikings, he was just 13-25 for 122 yards, two touchdowns, and two picks.

The Saints have a slight edge on defense, as they’re allowing just 19.8 points per game compared to the 21.7 the Falcons allow. Still, with Winston prone to mistakes, the defense may find themselves in difficult positions all game long. In what will be a three-point game one way or the other, the home team will get the win with a slightly healthier squad.

The Pick: Atlanta Falcons

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans

When these two teams met in Week 3, the Texans pummeled the Jaguars. C.J. Stroud threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, while Trevor Lawrence struggled to get much going until late in the game. With the Texans on a three-game winning streak and playing at home, they may seem like an easy play this week. However, there is one big question entering this game.

How will Stroud play against a team that has already seen him?

The rookie phenom has yet to play a team a second time this season, and though he had success against the Jaguars in Week 3, the defense will make adjustments. Things that worked for him the first time likely won’t work in this game.

The Texans have had a lot of success against the Jaguars of late. While they’re hot right now, they’ve won three one-possession games in a row, and two were over teams below .500. Take the road team to build a two-game lead in the AFC South.

The Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars

Cleveland Browns @ Denver Broncos

Without Deshaun Watson, the Browns’ defense was called upon to come up big against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They ended up holding the Steelers to just 249 yards of offense and 10 points. Kenny Pickett managed just 106 passing yards in the game.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson was fine, but he still has a long way to go if he will make the Browns a legitimate contender in the postseason. This week, he will struggle against one of the hottest defenses in football.

The Broncos have allowed 22 or fewer points in five consecutive games. The offense has left a lot to be desired, but Russell Wilson has done a great job taking care of the football and making clutch plays when necessary. The Browns’ defense will keep them in this one, but the offense won’t be able to score. Barring two defensive touchdowns, this is the Broncos’ game to lose.

The Pick: Denver Broncos

Los Angeles Rams @ Arizona Cardinals

The tightest spread of the week belongs to this game. The Rams are currently favored by a half-point, making this essentially a pick ‘em. When these two teams met back in Week 6, the Rams won 26-9. The defense played phenomenally against Joshua Dobbs in that game, but the offense didn’t get going until the second half.

Though Cooper Kupp is dealing with an ankle injury that may keep him sidelined this week, the Rams got great news about Kyren Williams. The second-year back is set to return from IR this week, and he is set for a great matchup after carrying the ball 20 times for 158 yards and one touchdown in the first meeting.

Kyler Murray adds another element to this game, but while he’s made some incredible plays since returning from the IR, he hasn’t been as dominant as Cardinals’ fans hoped. The Rams are coming off a miracle victory over the Seattle Seahawks, so this could be a spot for a letdown. However, we think the win created momentum for a team desperately needing another win to stay in the playoff picture.

The Pick: Los Angeles Rams
