NFL Week 14: Top Underdog Bets

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Minnesota Vikings @ Las Vegas Raiders (+3)

Starting on the West Coast, our first underdog bet is going to be on this new Raiders team coached by Antonio Pierce. This team has played with more heart since Pierce was hired. They are now coming off a bye week after two tough games versus the Chiefs and Dolphins. Things should go smoother against a weaker Vikings team at home. The Vikings are also coming off their bye week and anticipate the return of Justin Jefferson after he was out for several weeks with an injury.

The Raiders will need to establish the running game with Josh Jacobs if they want to win this matchup, as the Vikings have been stout against the run in 2023 (7th in the NFL in rushing yards per game). On the other side, Maxx Crosby and company will need to contain Josh Dobbs in the pocket to avoid big plays. If he can escape and scramble for first downs or connect with Jefferson and Jordan Addison when the defense breaks down, it will be a long day for this Raiders defense.

But I’m confident in the Raiders at home here against the weakest opponent they faced in the past month.

        Bet: Raiders +3 (-112)

Denver Broncos (+2.5) @ Los Angeles Chargers

The Broncos are entering this game motivated after a heartbreaking loss against Houston that would have put this team firmly in the AFC playoff picture as a wild card team. They’re not out of it yet by any means, and they’ll have a golden opportunity to pick up a big division win against the Chargers. If you’ve been following these articles, you know we like to go against this Chargers team. We know the talent on this roster, but they just can’t seem to get out of their own way.

I have a bold prediction: the Broncos will come into LA and win this game outright, leading to the Chargers finally letting go of head coach Brandon Staley. If the Chargers drop to 5-8 and miss the playoffs yet again with Justin Herbert, I don’t see how they can keep Staley on board. After a bad weather game in New England that saw no touchdowns, Staley is now threatening to take touches away from RB Austin Ekeler. This is a coach that’s panicking, and perhaps because he sees the writing on the wall for his future.

I don’t even need the full 3 points, just give me the Broncos +2.5 and outright due to better coaching and better defense.

        Bet: Broncos +2.5 (-102)

Philadelphia Eagles (+3.5) @ Dallas Cowboys

The 49ers really embarrassed the Eagles last week, with rest seemingly playing a big factor for both teams. With that being said, I am back in on the Eagles in a giant game that will likely determine who wins the NFC East. This time, we get +3.5, and I think this game will finish within a field goal for either side.

Dallas and Dak Prescott have been rolling on offense lately, but their defense has surprisingly looked a bit suspect. Geno Smith came to Dallas last week and put up 4 touchdowns in Jerry World without his starting RB and almost pulled off the upset. The Cowboys will need to clean it up with Philly coming in primetime. I also think the Eagles will have some steam to blow off after the embarrassment last week and will look to take it out on a familiar foe. Not to mention, they could be getting back some helpful reinforcements if TE Dallas Goedert and DT Fletcher Cox can suit up for this one.

        Bet: Eagles +3.5 (-115)
