NFL Week 14 Pick’Em Pool Advice

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons

With a win on Sunday, the Falcons would all but end the Buccaneers’ hopes of an NFC South title. They would take a two-game lead over their division rivals and complete the season sweep of Baker Mayfield and company.

As has been the case with just about every Falcons’ game this season, this is a toss-up. The last eight Falcons’ games have been decided by nine or fewer points, including last week’s ugly 13-8 win over the Jets.

Yet, for as mediocre as the Falcons have looked, the Bucs have lost six of their last eight games, with their only wins coming over the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers. While Rachaad White and the running game have come to life, Mayfield has thrown for just 401 yards in the last two weeks. He’s not going to have much more luck this week against the 11th-ranked Falcons’ pass defense.

The Pick: Atlanta Falcons

Indianapolis Colts vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Jake Browning looked incredible in the Bengals’ Monday night win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished the game 32-37 for 354 yards and one touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown. If this is the type of play the Bengals are going to get from their quarterback, then their season is far from over. However, Sunday’s matchup is not nearly as good for Browning and the offense.

The Jaguars have the third-worst pass defense in football. The Colts are ranked 17th in the league. The Colts are also allowing opposing quarterbacks to complete just 63.26% of their passes. That’s 12th-best in the league.

The Colts have struggled with bad teams in their last four games, but they always find a way to win. Though this game is being played in Cincinnati, what this comes down to is defense. The Colts’ defense is good enough to keep Browning out of rhythm, while the Bengals are going to let Gardner Minshew throw all over them.

The Pick: Indianapolis Colts

Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have been an unbelievably frustrating team this season, and despite winning on Sunday, their performance was far from convincing. They defeated the 2-10 New England Patriots 6-0 in the lowest-scoring game of the season. The offense compiled just 241 yards, but a lot of that can be chalked up to terrible weather in Foxborough.

The Broncos put up a valiant effort against the Houston Texans, but they ultimately saw their five-game winning streak come to an end. The Broncos continued their offensive struggles. Even though they compiled 282 yards, they turned the ball over three times, which was the difference in the game.

This is going to be a very close game, as the Broncos are playing tremendously defensively, and the Chargers have struggled against good defenses. But the Chargers’ defense has been one of the most improved units in football over the last few weeks, and that growth is going to make it so that Justin Herbert and the offense only need 20 points to win this game. The Chargers haven’t scored 20 in their last two games, but with perfect playing conditions, they will have more success on Sunday.

The Pick: Los Angeles Chargers

Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants

The Packers have knocked off the Lions and the Chiefs in back-to-back weeks. More impressive than the final result of each game is how the team has looked. Over the last three weeks, Jordan Love has thrown for over 850 yards, eight touchdowns, and zero interceptions, while the defense has allowed just 61 points.

This week, the Packers get to face a Giants team that has looked horrible at times this season. However, they’re on a two-game winning streak, and while they’ve looked far from impressive in those games, their defense is playing well, and the offense is doing just enough to win.

While many are ready to say the Packers are back, this is a tricky spot for them. They’re due for a letdown game, and they’re on the road on Monday night against a team playing their best football of the season and coming off a bye. It sounds crazy, but the Giants are going to pull the upset of the week in prime time.

The Pick: New York Giants
